Really smart redesign, eliminating the van-ish characteristics, while retaining the practicality. Also, great job by Thomas in highlighting the rear seat comfort!

Looks cool like the A-class but more practical, i think it's perfect hot hatch for "cool parents" who still wanna drive a premium hot hatch like the a class but needs more room for their baby stuff 😅

I love it!! Those lights are so unique to this model so far. I would take this over an A Class actually.

I really really like this so much. It is like a no compromise hatchback with a lot of space. Better rear leg room, better headroom, better boot space. And honestly I love the looks. I think these looks will divide opinion less than the A Class, CLS and new GLE which may be more daring. But I love all their designs of late. It has something German cars didn't really have and that's emotion. BMW and Audi design is a bit bland and generic but Mercedes is making good looking cars that have somewhat unique design imo.

As usual great review, the 1st few seconds made me smile, you said “it’s been redesigned from scrape” when the saying is “it’s been redesigned from scratch”. Scrape and scratch mean almost the same thing but in that phrase it’s scratch not scrape. Although I’m being picky because you’re English is fantastic/ impressive, your accent is very clear too.

I have been driving the W246 200CDI, SE trim, manual gearbox, for 2 years now, I did around 70 000 km so far. A good car, nice visibility, economical - averaging 4, 8l/100km . Seating position for driver is good, with plenty of adjustment, back seats have more room comparing to C and E class even. The very practical tables are missing now, my wife loves them, especially when feeding the toddler. Boot space is not the greatest. Very agile in city environment, bit noisy on motorway. Good quality so far, no major issues. I regret about no spending more on optional glass sunroof and automatic gearbox. Lovely car.

Well, I found this new generation nicely designed, and much more beautiful than previous models (which were already nice)...it's not supposed to be a sports car, but it's doing the job of practicality, compact size, sufficient space, and nice looking.

I have the current B Class, it seems this new one is an improvement over the current in most aspects, except the default seating position boot space where the current model is slightly bigger and that cheap looking parcel shelf...

The back of the car looks great, looks very much like the GLC which is not a bad thing at all.

Perhaps B Class will become more popular this time round, granting an opportunity to create an AMG version.

Great overview Thomas and Holger! I actually thought the B Class looked not too bad at all before and it has improved even more with this new generation. The Mercedes interiors are beginning to look and feel better. I have found them to be a little plastic/hollow at times. Not solid and sure, as one might find in a Volkswagen Group car. One thing is for sure, the speech recognition is pretty darn good. Looking forward to the driving review!
