Some great tips from this guy..
I've been riding bikes since I was 8, I'm 51 now...
So obviously started off on off road bikes, just thrashers ( small 1/125cc roadbikes for the fields. Then I got into motocross..
I past my test and got a Yamaha TZR250
2 STROKE.. Excellent bikes, but listen yes it did 120mph which was fast for 88.
I was already quite good, but anyone can open the throttle on a straight.
Start by going slower and learn how to enter and exit every corner, S bends whatever...Do not brake whilst into any corner, think about oncoming traffic, even if you see its clear, get the lines mastered... After the 250, I got a 91 Kawasaki ZXR400. Bit tuned 133mph, but totally different to the Yam 250 smoker in many ways..
Think about what bike you really want, be it any serious 1000cc+ superbike, or a 1000cc sports tourer, because they ride differently... Don't get like that V twin Yamaha to ride, if next year you want an R1 etc..
The 600's/1000's are only different in weight, power and torque..
Always wear full leathers, boots, gloves..
Doesn't matter how good you are, may not be your fault...
But come off at 70+mph in jogging bottoms and a T shirt..
Say goodbye to your skin and bones...
We bikers all love to give it the beans..
But don't do it where you can kill innocent people..
I can wheelie all day, but I don't ride through towns on the back wheel..
Most of all, enjoy yourself, stay safe and have consideration for others..

I started on a 09 ninja 650 and everything about that bike was inexpensive. Taxes and insurance were super cheap and the bike itself only cost me $2400 dollars. I almost bought another one for my wife but she chose the MT07 instead and it's been a great bike for her as well.

Good video brother ! Also, I will also add a few:
1-Svs650-not a true sportbike, but it looks nice with full fairings, and not superpowerful (70ish hp) and cool SV V-twin ///very beginner friendly///
2-Older good sportbikes like the Yzf-R 600 Thundercat-sportbike, but more comfortable and less sporty, like the Cbr600f or the zzr600 (zzr looks kinda old though). It's the grandmother of the r6. If you want a comfortable sportbike you can find good ones of these. Carburetors though, not injection. ///all of em are around 100ish hp so not really beginner friendly///
3-ducati monsters-ducati monsters are probably the most reliable out of all ducatis, injection are more reliable than carbed ones. The more recent the better they are. You can find older (between 2000 to 2015) Monster models for under 5k ///the 600 to 800 monsters are beginner friendly too///
4-KTM RC390-very sporty, 390cc single cylinder, can eat track all day. "Only" 44hp, but weights 160kg FULL. Can be very fun, while not being very expensive or dangerous. KTM though, so prepare yourselves to solve minor heating or electrical issues. Not expensive issues though. Slap it with good coolant fluid and better radiator and she's mostly prepped. Can be very reliable with good care. ///beginner friendly///
More non beginner friendly under 5k motorcycles: bandit 1250, 650; z750; aprilia shiver; honda hornet (depends on year and mileage but you can find pretty recent ones under 5k)
And much more but I'm running out of time and ideas lol
Recently found a very nice looking blue thundercat as my second bike near I live but i need to see if it's in good condition. Wish me luck

Thanks for continuing to advise us Spunky. Very sound logic and hypothetical details for helping us with bike shopping. I like how you inspire us riders to question private owners and check for honesty.

You should write a introductory book for first time riders. Your always ahead of the game and thinking. Thanks for watching out for us.

You da main man Spunk. Shout out Spunk-Dawg. Woo! Woo! Woo! Woo!

Peace Spunkaaay✌️✌️✌️😁

whats with the listings nowadays? 06 gsxr, cbr, zxr, asking 4500$ but a yamaha r6 6500$? WHY. yamaha is not a clout bike. young men got the power to make onlyfan girls rich and yamaha owners rich too 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂

My first bike is a 2005 Yamaha R6. I love it. Even 30k miles and left in a garage for years. It still runs like a monster. I get compliments about my bike all the time. Even more than my room mate that has 1 of 1 Harley

I started on a zx10r, one thing I learned from my dad was something he told me he said that ‘the bike will only go as fast as you make it go’ or something similar to that, it was pretty helpful even though it was that simple🤷‍♀️

I probably overpaid but got a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 400r for my first bike for $3000 Canadian or about $2200 USD . it’s in mint condition though and only 4900 miles on it. Was owned by a retired gentleman who always kept it in a garage. I uploaded a short YouTube vid of it the other day. Once I get my full license I’ll make more videos

my first bike was a 2018 honda rebel 300. Fantastic starter for practicing maneuvers and drills, or just going to work. Super comfortable especially for someone short. Think it topped out at 80-85 if anyone was curious.

10:12 I totally get what your saying here. It’s how I feel driving my 2008 Mazda three. It’s not the fastest car by far but it’s a manual and it’s got good acceleration. I won’t get past 125, but it’s fun as hell to get it there. 😂😂😂
