Basically what he is saying is different types of materials leave different levels of radioactive material in the air. The first nukes launched in Japan where extremely primitive compared to what we have today, and only a fraction of a gram of the material was activated in basically both bombs, the weight of a butterfly blasted 2 cities off the map. New nukes are much more efficient and are made with different material. The explosion is more concerning, 1 because it's so fkn big, and 2 because it is very efficient at using the "fuel" provided for the explosion. Most of the nuclear material is used in the explosion.
He could have spent 2 hours talking about the explanation for it but he dumbed it down heavily for time purposes and the crowd lol

The mankind has performed in the 20th century more than 2000 nuclear explosions - tests (some of them fission, some fusion "hydrogen"). Some of them were of an enormous scale. And somebody is freaking up, if there is an explosion thousands of kilometers away.😮 (Of course not good for the people nearby though.)

Watch Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie (1995).
Both educating and spectacular movie!

The nuke club, through above ground testing…has put nearly 50 metric tons of plutonium in the upper atmosphere since 1945.
The campaign against smoking was part of the way for the US government to explain increased incidence of cancer

NDGT is being a little disingenuous. Modern thermonuclear weapons produce less radiation compared to the size of their blast but they still produce copious amounts of radiation and fallout if detonated close to the ground like the Hiroshima bomb. But modern nukes are intended to be detonated much higher in the atmosphere to maximise the shock damage and blast radius as well as take advantage of the increased range of the emp… this in turn creates less radioactive fallout…

Do we really want to test that theory or can we leave the world ending darkness alone

To get they hydrogen to fuse a fission reaction should occur first. So no Neil their is still radiation problem
