NDT is getting off with just hearing himself talk.

What Tyson is actually saying is, if it takes a global thermonuclear war to defeat Putin, then giddy up!

Hydrogen bombs (fusion) contain 2 stages: the first stage is a fission bomb that creates the temperatures necessary to start the fusion reaction (second stage).

Not sure why he is saying that hydrogen bombs dont have the fallout problem of fission bombs when they contain fission bombs by design.

Funny how this clown doesn't say that nuclear warfare would do anything to contribute to climate change or have any environmental harm whatsoever.🤣🤣🤣🤣

he's very emotional for a scientist

Why would Russia waste money making a cleaner bomb that in the long run will inflict less damage to the enemy? Let me answer that for you, De-Asse: They wouldn't.

Neil Tyson "nukes are no big deal". And people think this guy is smart.

Tyson is speaking out of his butt about hydrogen bombs. There is a lot of historical evidence on testing those hydrogen bombs and the the effects. Radiation is an huge problem if you are not vaporized.

That’s so strange cuz all the CBRN training we take talks specifically about the Radioactive fallout from Nuclear weapons. MODERN NUCLEAR WEAPONS! Where is he getting his information from?!

Kabal

In absolute terms, the most modern weapon in the US arsenal produces at least 4.5 times the fission products of the two weapons dropped on Japan combined.
NDT doesn't know what he's talking about, again..

NDT does not know what he is talking about

I feel I need to make a correction here regarding nuclear weapons, as I have studied everything about nukes short of building one. Atomic bombs use either uranium or plutonium, which is where the radiation comes from. Hydrogen bombs are much worse in terms of radiation fallout. They use an atomic bomb to create a fusion reaction with tritium or deuterium, usually both. So NDT here is wrong. The fallout from hydrogen bombs are much, much worse.

So they are beginning to admit the truth about nukes and nuclear power.

hold on - is ngtl actually suggesting that firebombing is more fatal than nukes, that other weapons are more fatal than nukes, that talk of nuke horrors, of nuclear war, has always been blown out of proportion, and that today's nukes aren't nearly as damaging in terms of radiation and

Go tell the people of Rongelap and Utirik atolls that radiation isn't an issue with H-bombs.

What was lost on NDK is that Teller called the bomb the super bomb precisely because it was just another fission bomb at a whole other level using the physics of fission fusion fision in a most elegant manner. The trigger is itself a miracle of design that initiates further fission fusion in the sausage a barrel containg U238, LithiumDeuteride and Pu239. Note that the U238 does not easily fission in a fission device but the xrays and gamma rays from the fusion device can initiate further fission in the U blanket. Also the exact ratio of energy can be dialed in by varying the components. Also the energy density of these devices is many times that of pure fission nukes per ton, so a very small super bomb can have far more energy release than the relatively large plain fission device.

I think he stopped talking because he knew he misspoke.

- Hydrogen bombs use fusion and fission in the reaction, so they also emit radiation. Perhaps less / energy emitted, but there's still radiation.
- A "nuclear winter" is what I feel Bill is really talking about. That's similar to the volcanic blocking of the sun. It's just soot in the air from the nuclear blasts, regardless of radiation.

My respect for Tyson keeps plummeting since I first heard of him.

Fission or Fusion, it doesn't matter. The fallout comes from neutron activation. You'd think a "physics expert" would know that.

I get what he’s saying tho because no one is deathly afraid of battle ok the front lines and hundreds of thousands dying but as soon as someone mentions a nuke they think it’s somehow 1000 times worse then conventional weapons of war
