Beware, if a circuit shares a neutral it can give a false reading. I always run thru all twice at a slow pace.

Best $50 I've ever spent. Once you think you've killed the circuit, run the receiver back over the breakers and if you got it right, it won't light up red anymore. Hope that makes sense.

A good tool, but requires an energized circuit to be useful. The transmitter is line powered, so it will not work if a GFCI outlet is tripped on the same circuit.

It's a line toner. They've been around for decades. The thing that plugs in pumps like a audio frequency sine wave into the the lines, which act as a transmitting antenna. Then the other end receives is

Faster way to find the correct breaker, just short the outlet and see which breaker pops. If it didn't pop... Then your house will be on fire and this electric panel will be old story :)
