What's it like to move to Japan? I first visited Japan in 2015 from China when I was living there. I decided to move to Japan after that and have lived here for 2 years so far. Despite having lived in Asia for many years, Japan remains unique to me. There have been many adjustments and culture shocks since moving here and I want to share them with you. Whether you want to move here or visit Japan for a trip, I hope this helps you prepare.

Below are language learning tools I have personally used for years. Direct purchases of software from these links goes to supporting this channel.

I hope that you are enjoying these vlog-style videos along with the other videos. I like to do a mix of language, travel, and humor on this channel. I plan to buy a nicer camera soon for some indoor and night shots. -Anming

Yeah ghosting is kind of a thing here in Japan because people don’t like direct confrontation, and for the same reason, people on the receiving end also kind of accept it in some cases.
But that thing (not showing up after hours of train ride) happened to you in this video is whole on another level!
That is so disrespectful and unacceptable even in Japanese standards! (because wasting someone’s time is viewed as one of the biggest sins in Japan)
Probably that person is just a scumbag.

Aww, i felt the sadness in your eyes when you got stood up. Unfortunately that kind of things happens everywhere, even here in Europe.

Inconsiderate “friend” on the effort you took. not right. You still had a positive outlook afterwards. You’re a good person 👍

Not showing up...is the worst feeling! It's called: "Flaking!!" Sorry, but those people are not friends, they are simply JERKS!!!!

Japan was crazy when I moved there. Especially events like Halloween in Shibuya. But as soon as you begin speaking their language they open up sooo much

Glad to see you with Toby again Anming. The older man who sold you the cucumber, and the woman getting a massage was a nice scene, very friendly elders.

The ghosting issue is a problem here in America as well. Especially in the dating scene. At least he told you he wasn't showing up instead of just not showing up, leaving you wondering if something happened to him.

I've been disappointed by mostly everyone in my life. So, I've just learned that being my best self is all the friendship I need. I'll always be kind, but I won't seek that feeling of yearning for a friend anymore. People sometimes just simply don't know how to be honest. I'm very blunt and I see things for what they are, one can articulate that without hiding the truth and making someone feel worthless or "less-than". Sorry you had to experience this. You helped me recently on some Kanji, you have a good heart. Don't let others bad hearts stain yours. - A fellow supporter of your channel and all your endeavors.

The ghosting is rather common in asia. people would rather disappear than confront and solving the issues at hand

My number 1 pet peeve is when you're supposed to meet someone and they turn up late. I can't imagine not turning up at all. All hell breaks loose. I'm sorry for you. Really.
