Two Years Post-Afib Ablation: My Health and Life Update ❤️❤️❤️

➡️I was diagnosed with afib at the age of 41, despite living a healthy lifestyle, and had an ablation procedure to treat it in 2021. Two years later, I discuss my health status, my exercise routine, food and drink habits, and what I'm doing to prevent afib from coming back.

➡️Since my ablation, I have become more cautious about high-intensity exercise and have shifted my routine to low-impact activities. I have also consulted with a dietician to ensure a healthy diet and have completely eliminated alcohol from my diet. Monitoring my heart has become a daily routine, and I wear an EKG-enabled smartwatch to run an EKG reading at least once a day. While I still have not fully regained my confidence after developing afib, my overall mood has improved since the procedure.

I was diagnosed about 10-12 months ago after having a stroke. So first the stroke gave me a bad stutter and a slew of other challenges and still to this day I get weird issues. I am on Carlton, flecanide, metropohol and 5 other meds. My afib is horrible as I’m typing my chest is fluttering and I can’t relax. I get the burn in my heart but I am scheduled for my ablation in April of 2024, the flecinide is not helping and they cannot increase dose as my heart rate is very low. So the good is I no what I have and I have hope that it will be addressed with the ablation, and if it comes back we do it all over again but I’m still here. I was the picture of health prior to my stroke and worked out 6 days a week and ate very well for years. My doctor told me I am here today because I was fit and in great shape, I see that a lot in comments. I am going to video my journey and post it as my wife and kids are nervous as I have never been sick in my life- post soon

Just subscribed, thank you for all your information. I had ablation last week, next morning did TaiChi, followed by Pickleball. Wasn’t planning to play, just went to keep score. They didn’t have enough players, so I played. My partner got most of the balls & everyone took it easy on me. I’ve been doing the same routine every day now, feels wonderful

I was diagnosed with A-Fib in October after a clinical checkup. I unfortunately had to be admitted to the ER to be shocked back into rhythm, as my heartrate was in the 220's! After 2 rounds of shock therapy I was back in A-Fib. My cardiologist recommended that I have an ablation done. I was crushed. I'm 3 weeks fresh from my ablation and I am happy to announce that I am no longer in a-fib. I am in atrial flutter at the moment but they were very happy to announce to my family that they got my issue. I'm slowly getting back into my routine, but my heart feels better.

Thank you for making these videos.

Thanks for the update Steve. I'm always curious how you are doing and happy to hear that things are going well. Since my ablation I have returned to a high level of physical activity, but I do not push myself quite as hard as I used to. By that I mean that I still run, bike, lift fairly heavy and do metabolic conditioning a couple days a week. I did have afib one night after a hard sprint workout so I don't do that anymore. I've also noticed that even a single alcoholic beverage causes problems for me now. I don't get afib from it but I do get a noticeable amount of extra beats and sometimes that is enough to tip me into afib. Just wanted to follow your example and share my experience. Keep up the good work.

I had my cryo ablation just over a week ago. I'm taking it extremely easy for a couple of weeks and then I'll build up my exercise regularly. I've lifted weights for most of my life and I'm a little nervous about lifting again, but I'm hoping I can continue if not at the volumes prior to the ablation. I still have a little discomfort in my chest but that's normal so I'm told. The real test comes in 5 weeks time when I have to stop taking flecainide, as this particular drug has worked very well for me in stopping AF. I'm glad to hear you're doing so well, it gives hope to us all. 😊

I subscribed! I'm having my ablation next Friday! I’ve only had AFIB since 13 April 2022, and it only happens occasionally, but it's time! Thanks for your videos!

Thank you so much for your videos. My experience with a fib is very similar to yours. I had an ablation almost two years. So far so good but I am constantly worrying. It helps to know though that I am not alone.

I just subscribed to your channel. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It’s so very helpful. I am newly diagnosed 2 months ago and it’s been a roller coaster ride since then. I am grateful I do not have symptoms. I was in Afib 24/7 and had a cardio version 12 days ago and thankfully have been in NSR since then. These last 2 months have been a series of appointments and so many different tests and medication. I am blessed my tests have all come back normal. At my follow up appointment with my EP last week he wanted me to be scheduled for an ablation for a month from now. I was shocked and surprised since the cardioversion put me in normal sinus rhythm. I know cardioversions are temporary, but I thought he would wait until the time came when Afib came back. Since I am in normal sinus rhythm and I have no symptoms I am overthinking the procedure of an ablation at this time. It all sounds so overwhelming. Your personal experience has helped a bit.

Thanks for your video. I have just been diagnosed with AFib recently after being misdiagnosed as having vertigo since 2021. I am considering an ablation to try and get my symptoms under control and possibly have a better quality of life.

Oh that's good news! I just watched the older video and I just developed afib out of the clear blue sky about a month ago and the first time it happened it scared me so badly then I was diagnosed and I know that fear you live with and the symptoms, waiting for that little bleep in the heart beat then it's off the the races! I live that now but for the last week or so I have accepted it and feel better knowing I can get this procedure as well. I am so happy you are doing good and no afib! I hope it stays that way!

Appreciate this video and appreciate all the comments telling your stories. I’m in my early 30s and have been a fitness fanatic since age 18. I work out 5 days a week and eat healthy. I was under extreme stress in my relationship when I had my first experience with Afib. Felt like my heart was doing backflips. Like every chamber in my heart was beating independently. I managed to cardio convert chemically at the hospital. Two years later I was under extreme stress again and now I have been having pre atrial contractions regularly, mainly when I lay down.
Both the times I went into Afib it was when I was waking up in the morning and after I would roll to my side and boom my heart would go berserk.
Flecanaid has made me more comfortable but I don’t want to take drugs forever. Im considering an ablation but an scared of my arrhythmia getting worse. Maybe it’s a risk I’ll have to take.

Iv had 3 ablations over the years but unfortunately my afib has returned.!! It’s not as bad as it used to be at all. I still work full time and live a good life.
If I get afib episode I just sit it out at home and keep calm. I’m on anticoagulants to lower the stroke risk👍

I just had this done and I am 4 weeks out from the ablation. Recovery has been easy though I still get tired easily. I think that may be from the medications they started me on (amiodarone and diltiazem) that I hope will be discontinued soon. I am slowly getting back into exercise, taking 3 mile daily walks and jogging parts of those and light weightlifting. I'm not pushing myself to hard yet. I haven't had an episode of Afib since the ablation procedure, or at least any that I can feel. My endurance during exercise seems to have improved. I'm becoming more confident that the ablation solved the problem but, like you, I find myself constantly paying attention to my heartbeat anticipating a abnormal heartbeat. Hopefully that will fade with time. Thanks for the videos, they are very informative.

I did my second ablation in december and are since then afib-free. I train again with no restrictions and do push myself a couple of times a week. Imam very happy with the result of the second ablation.

I have a pacemaker/defibrillator and an online monitor on my bedhead which reads it and reports to cardiology. Don't you have this? I am not going to monitor my pulse. I can feel it anyway. I've been in bad heart failure the past 5 weeks. Waiting for this ablation now... I am ready to get a couple of big bangs and fly to God. No one in life gives a sh1t.
