Tsunami are not tidal waves by definition. They aren't generated by tides, but by seismic events or astronomic impacts

People also forget to talk about the Puerto Rico trench which is the deepest point in the Atlantic ocean. A big earthquake or landslide there would displace an immense amount of water and produce big waves on the north coast of PR, the US and Canada east coasts and western Europe.

Thank GOD when that volcano in La Palma erupted for months it did not cause that tsunami a lot feared but who knows next time Cumbre Vieja erupts it happens

Off the eastern continental shelf, there are also a lot of huge pockets of methane being held back by the water pressure. If a megatsunami moved over those pockets, maybe it could release the methane?

Unless you really know for sure. I wouldn't worry about any tsunami hitting the East Coast anytime in our Lifetime. Now maybe the Cascadia and San Andreas hitting the West Coast with both that underwater Volcano building in the Pacific a few hundred miles off the coast of California and the Cascadia combined just may be the Very Biggest Mega Quake and Mega Tsunami, Bigger than the Sri Lanka, Indian, and Japan Mega Quakes and Tsunami's combined.
