In this video I react to a recent piece on Elon Musk’s The Boring Company, and share my thoughts and opinions as well as discussing the synergies between The Boring Company and Tesla.

As always, in this video I'm just sharing my #investment thinking process and my reasoning. Keep using your own brain. Don't be a sheep. 🐑

I love you all,
Steven

Bureaucracy is the art and science of turning the easy into difficult by means of the unnecessary.

CNBS editor: "We have lots of videos of the actual Vegas Convention Loop with Tesla's driving through finished tunnels."
CNBS producer: "No. Just use lots of clips of the demo tunnel."
CNBS editor: "But that's kind of disingenuous to the viewer, showing them something that isn't really representative of how far along the company currently is."
CNBS producer: (stares at the editor)

Traffic is...soul destroying...it's like...acid on the soul 😂 love this man

Yes! Only work with municipalities that are willing and ready for the tunnels.

I see your advertising analogy. Don't beat your head against the wall of impedance.

Elon said he dedicates only 5% of his time to true "hobby" company, so its okay it's not going a fast as his main companies

I love how they worry about environmental issues, with out considering the positive effects of taking all those ICE cars off the road.

@15:00 The converse is also true, that large train also often runs empty or with very few people. The Teslas worst is an empty rate of 4 vs 400.

Someone should start a "solving the traffic problem" channel

Florida traffic is ridiculas. In 1989 I lived in Orlando 2 miles from airport and it would take me 30 to 45 minutes to go to work at the airport due to traffic on the 436.Ended up moving to cocoa beach for the same commute time and better lifestyle

The evolution of these tesla cars in boring tunnels

1: Remove 90% of the battery and pull power from an electrified rail or overhead. Using the v.small battery for acceleration and deceleration. Reduces cost and mass of the cars

2: Link 25 cars together and run them like a train just 5cm gap via a physical link. 100 customers get out and 100 new customers get in

3: Use a 6 seater model Y rather than model 3s increasing a 25 car 'train' to 150 seats

4: Make a dedicated 12 seat vehicle with just 5 meters length. Increasing the 25 car capacity to 300 seats

5. Remove tires for metal wheels on metal rails to reduce tire wear and pollution towards zero and also reduce rolling resistance approximately 10x

6: You've just re-invented the subway

It's a worthy goal if he can build these subways cheaper than traditional subways

I won't be surprised if The Boring Company's biggest contribution turns out to be a new approach to the construction of sewers. As the saying goes, shit rolls down hill. Many US cities have crumbling and, by original design, inadequate sewer systems. They are currently constrained in correcting this problem by the need to excavate from the surface, thereby necessitating the destruction of existing structures, and the need to maintain downward slope in sewer lines regardless of the topography. This approach also disrupts traffic flow, sometimes for months or even years. All these problems, at least conceptually, are solved by tunneling. Imagine a metro area's waste treatment plant with a large underground chamber perhaps a hundred yards or so below the surface. Sewage is fed to this chamber by tunnels radiating outward, sloping downward in the direction of the underground chamber. Lift pumps raise the nasty stuff up to the treatment plant. The need for surface excavation is reduced in a major way.

12 feet is more like a pipeline rather than a tunnel.

Ever since I got my Model X. I don’t mind traffic as much. I just enjoy the ride.

You can't build your way out of traffic jams (or only in the short term). If you build more roads, in short order people will start driving more because it is easier to get places. The only way to get rid of traffic jams is with mass transportation--light rail (subways) or buses. I don't see why building tunnels would be any different from building more roads--unless small subway cars are what you've got running in the tunnels.

Imagine tunnel being lined with ultra thin oled panels that makes entire journey thru tunnel an experience like no other it could be from safari to ride in space !!!

Thanks for keeping us informed....Great Video. !!!

The tunnel disruption is great but using trains in them, aka a subway system, is still better than individual cars or "pods". The trains are just large efficient "pods" anyway. On the surface for cars, Tesla and EVs are the best, but nothing beats a good underground subway system.

hey Steven, just little note to acknowledge the fact that you are by far the most fun, intelligent, and amusing person that i watch on youtube. you never fail to elicit a smile or a giggle or multiple combinations of those as i watch any of your videos.
one minor correction. you said that Starlink has over 1000 satellites in orbit. they actually have well over 4000.
cheers bro!

Long term solution to traffic is getting away from a car centric model of cities. No boring company or teslas will solve that. Investing in public transportation and enforcing other means of transportation like walking and cycling will do.
