DJI RC Remote Controller | The BEST CHOICE For The DJI MAVIC3, DJI MINI 3 PRO & DJI AIR 2s

I have used DJI's pro controllers and the RC Controller for my Mavic 3 Pro is just as powerful. This controller has exceeded my expectations and I will not part with it. I just hope DJI doesn't catch on that they made the BEST cost effective smart controller for new and veteran flyers.

From the get go i had a dji rc, though i work in the news sector and after about 1 year i found that the RC PRO suited my needs more.
Being able to use the HDMI to live stream straight back to the studio is a god send!
I switched to the DJI RC Pro because of these needs.
It's not for everyone and the RC Remote will suit most peoples needs.

The RC N1 is the best, I end to use other apps to fly my mavic, litchi, drone deploy and other mapping apps…iPad mini 6 running mapping apps

"They gave us the options...." Yeah, but 12 months AFTER the Air 2S came out. I have already stumped up for the RC Pro and I am not interested in stepping back from that, so I shall be just using that in the future. Thanks.

The RC Pro is far superior in many ways, for mavic 3 complements it well and should have been standard with both the regular and cine. It is overpriced, but as others have said you get what you pay for. For the Mini 3 pro then it's a no brainer to get with the rc controller.

The only downside I found is the inability to sideload Litchi. Waypoints went by the wayside!

Great remote I agree, I have it too. The other thing if you don’t want to get calls with other remotes, there is an option called “Do not disturb”. Pretty much in everyone phone, so you won’t get a call while flying 😀

Thanks for the run down of the various models. I have a Mini 3 for hobbies and getting into droning. Mostly trips and hiking! I have the one that connects to my Android phone yet nearly every time I start it up the app needs to be updated which requires a download since DJI is no longer in the Plat Store!

When this happens, if I don't have service service and can't log in or verify flyability! Does this solve those problems? 1) no updates/breaks unless I want fixes/features 2) no need for internet.

You mentioned connecting to hotspot, what features would you "need" the internet for?

I just went to the top of a mountain, there was no service and I couldn't fly by drone that I pack 10 miles in! I just want to be able to fly by drone without complication. Am I missing something here?

Thanks Jared!

Agreed. I just picked up one of these when I purchased a new Air 2S, coming from an Air 2 with the smart controller, and it is worlds better! The price is just a bonus;)

I am still new to this controller and still figuring things out but it appears that the only way to get stored media files off of the controller (and also the drone) is to fiddle around pulling the micro SD card out, putting it into an adapter, plugging that into a card reader and plugging that into the computer. If that is correct, i.e. that there is no other way to access the files for editing and/or any other kind of management like efficiently batch deleting or creating sub folders for longer term organized storage.

The exact same thing applies to the files on the drone itself. And frankly it doesn't make sense to me that DJI could produce such a refined system in every other way and only be left with cell phone functionality for managing data.

The other thing I would be interested in knowing is if there is a way to TURN OFF every video and photo file being produced by the drone and stored on the drone's SD card ALSO being duplicated on the controller and have to fiddle around with clearing those files out manually from the controller.

The downside to this controller is the inability to load apps. The controller accepts a SD card so memory should not be an issue. It would be a great improvement if DJI would allow side loading apps.

The RC has some benefits for sure. Price, weight, etc, but unfortunately it doesn't have rtmp livestreaming ability. The Pro does, as well as the mobile app when using the cheap RC-N1.
I understand not everyone livestreams, but for those that do, this is a deal breaker.

I'm in your position. Thrilled with my M2P and SC purchased in late 2020. It's been the perfect controller. I'm now looking at going with a 3 series and disappointed with how much more they're charging for the RC Pro. My biggest hesitation with the RC is the dimmer screen (700 nits vs 1000 I have now), but I'm also disappointed that they got rid of the of the D controller. Do you miss it? I have mine programmed to point my gimbal down and up quickly b/c I have the gimbal knob set to move it extremely slowly for smoother action while filming, so I need a quick way to look below me when scanning the area.

Thanks for the video 😊. I have a question, I have air 2s and I recently my N1 controller got into sea water and stopped working. I have two options one is the smart controller and the other is RC1 . Which one do u recommend?

Good to hear your opinion. I wasn’t keen on the RC, happy with my other controllers. But eventually I bought one to see what all the fuss was about. Big surprise. Everything you said is spot on. I now use it all the time. 🤗

So Jerod nice informational video. I have a DGI maverick pro three I was thinking about a transmitter cause I lost my drone over granddad Bluff earlier this year because of transmission. It was a nice drone it was a DJI maverick to I think but anyway, do you think I should get a transmitter for This drone I have the transmitter or correction I have the remote the same one you were talking about in the video, so what do you think? Should I get a transmitter or not?

They say DJI RC is not smooth as RC N1 or RC Pro because the processor is the lowest grade. In 2.4Ghz restricted area, the range is 1km shorter than N1 and RC pro.

I bought this controller through your affiliate link since you helped me to confirm I should buy it. I can fly my Air 2s and my Mavic 2 Pro with my original Smart Controller, however, I really liked the "lighter weight" idea for this one since I am yarding it around with my Camera Backpack! How is that 700nits, is it bright enough??

I think if you are flying in open non-urban areas then you shouldn't find much of a difference between the RC and RC Pro or even the RCN1. Where I see the RC Pro performing better is in areas of higher signal interference, because it has "better" antennae. Even on my MVP2 controller, by moving the antennae it makes a difference when you lose signal. With the RC there is only the internal antennae. Some YouTube reviewers even put the RC controller behind the RCN1 because of the lack of directional antennae. It all depends on what you need and what type of environment you will fly your drone.
