Neil Diamond ~ Desirée 1977 Disco Purrfection Version

Neil Diamond's first charting single was "Solitary Man" in 1966, reaching a peak of #55. When it was re-released in 1970, he had become known as a hitmaker and this time the song peaked at #20. The follow up was the #1 pop hit "Cracklin' Rosie" and he continued making top 40 hits.

"Desirée" was picked from his "I'm Glad You're With Me Tonight" LP and the soft disco beat helped it reach #16 on the pop charts but did top the US and Canadian surveys of Adult Contemporary music.

The album was promoted with a TV program that aired November 17, 1977 and received three Emmy Awards nominations and also earned the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Musical/Variety Show from the Directors Guild of America.
