Hello Insiders! Today we're here to bust a myth we've heard from the community, "Will giving Members Early Access to a video hurt its performance once it's Public?".

Check it out and leave us your comments and questions below!

More info: When early access, Members-only videos are uploaded, they are recognized only by the Search and Discovery systems of Members. Once the video goes public, it will be treated as a new video for all non-Members.

So yes it does because members are the most dedicated viewers with the most watchtime...

My non-member viewers bulked at this and my views went down significantly. I am a community based channel and this caused a lot of backlash. I don't think it's worth it for my channel, but I do see how it can help other channels. Thank you for offering another feature, even if it's not right for me.

This wasn't reassuring, I don't think you understood the concern. If a creator publishes publicly straight away, then members views are treated the same as everyone else and count towards early signals for the algorithm. If a creator publishes members first though, it sounds like you're saying those views _don't_ count towards early signals for the algorithm. Creators know that early signals are important. If members views aren't being counted towards that once it goes public, the video gets less signals that people want to watch it. That disincentivises use of the members first feature.

I asked my members and they told me being a paying memeber to my channel they want to see things that are exclusive to them. I struggle with this part. Always looking for ideas for my members only to see.

This is actually really helpful. Thank you.

So, in other words, you're eating into your early public views by letting the most dedicated of your audience watch them early... Which sounds like it COULD impact your video performance.

People love making fun of myths and rumors about how everything hurts performance

It's even better. I got memeber only videos recommended. But I'm not a member. So I felt left out by them and unsubscribed.

I'm subscribed to thousands of creators. Thousands. I can never ever pay each and every one of them.

Really useful feature to give value for memberships and not need to remember to set it again public.
