Should I Use Tea Bags or Loose Leaf Tea?

People worry that they "should" be using loose leaf tea, not teabags. Well, it's true that other things being equal (eg tea quality), leaf tea will always make a better cup of tea than a tea bag.

But we live in the real world so let's be practical about it. You don't always have time to make a pot of loose-leaf tea, especially at work or when looking after children, or when travelling.

So why not use both? Make leaf tea at special times - for example first thing in the morning, or at 4pm. Use GOOD QUALITY tea bags at work or when you're rushing around.

I would much rather people bought the tea that they were really going to use, rather than buying the tea they thought they ought to use and then leaving it at the back of the store cupboard.

The real question is not "loose leaf vs teabags". It's "quality vs rubbish". There is plenty of poor quality leaf tea available - and good quality tea bags (such as mine!).

Buy good quality tea and be flexible about using the type that fits in with your busy lifestyle.

I use both. Loose leaf as a weekend treat. Bagged tea on work days. Although I'm contemplating making a batch of loose leaf on weekend and saving it in thermos for a few of my work days.
