My son went through this around this timeframe and it was so scary. He was talking just fine until suddenly he could hardly get past mom. Each word was a struggle. But after intense research, I waited the 6 months. After 6 months he started to talk normal again, and he spoke with much bigger vocabulary. Apparently this does happen when the toddler is expanding their vocabulary and want to use those big words and they get stuck. Now he is 4 and not only does he love to talk he talks with more elaborate words than all of his classmates

this really helped. usually my son will do this frustration grunt when i tell him "its ok, do it slowly". We will give it a go with the open safe space for him. Thanks for the advice.

This video was so helpful. My daughter will be three in October and she started stuttering out of nowhere. I’ve noticed that she is getting frustrated now when she cant get the sentence started and then tells me, “ I cant do it.” Or she starts to whisper what sue wants to say. I will keep observing her and giving her the open space because there have been time when I’ve told her that its ok and to try again :(

Thank you so much, this is great information, my son is dealing with three languages at the same time, English, French and Spanish. so yes, i noticed that he has trouble finding the words tu se when he wants to express himselve. Sometimes he mixes the languages in the same sentence.
Thank you again for the great explanation.

I am 27 now, and as someone who underwent speech therapy at the age of 10 for some time, it really helped initially.
But since then it has been the same struggle. Even worse.
Sometimes, I am at my fluent best, sometimes I can't even speak a line.
It's something which doesn't go away even if someone initially works on it.

Parents having young kids with a stutter, just one piece of advice. Encourage them to speak as much as possible. Make a routine where the child speaks for at least 1 hour about the daily routine. Tell him to narrate stories. Make him/her feel comfortable. Ask the child to focus on the content, and not on the stutter. Even if there is stutter, make him feel normal about it. No matter how bad it is.
Make an environment where no one is afraid to speak, and no one is tensed.
This would really help.

I feel as though my son does this infrequently especially when gets excited or nervous. Nonetheless, I would like for him to work with a speech therapist.

My son is 3 and he just kind of started within the last month pretty heavily with his stutter but he always finishes his sentence but he'll either finish it by Whispering it out or sometimes even getting frustrated and yelling it but it's not all the time it's only certain things but I am quite worried and scared about it is because he's my boy watch it and see how he improves or not before I take the next step because it's that the height of him learning the most words in his speech

The best thing we can do is to remove attachment from prestige, people's outlook for us...live bravely, don't worry about people's reactions after we speak...it's our life we should live peacefully.

We speak 3 languages at home . I am wondering if we should just switch English for now to make it easier for baby girl. Our son is almost 6 and speaks 3 languages fluently but he was home during covid so he was not exposed to too much English. I am thankful for any input

So my son is 3 years 2 months old. He just started this 2 weeks ago. It was very faint but now it's getting more and more frequent with stuttering. But he has no other speech issues. He sings well with zero stuttering but just some common words he knows how to say he will repeat like 2 or 3 times before finish it. I am so worried. We have zero stuttering in my family. I am praying this is a fluke it will disappear. My son talks so well just this random out of no where stuttering. How long does it go on before you should tell their health provider and seek help.
