After hearing numerous concerns about the reliability on the new 2020 C8 Mid-Engine Corvette Stingray during it's first year of production, I wanted to discuss a few things that give me full confidence in this car!

All footage was sourced directly from Chevrolet.

99% of people here can't afford a ferrari/lambo just give credit to GM for making this affordable beast

I'm a mustang guy all the way but Chevy gave the entire car industry 2 middle fingers with this new Corvette! The car is beautiful, crazy price, with supercar stats... they changed the game!!! Oh and I want one!

Real world experience with 5 Corvettes:
1997 - No problems
1998 - No problems
2006 - Removable roof recall took 2 days to repair
Seat belt retractor took a few hours to repair
Transmission failure at 50K miles. $2, 800 and took less than a week to replace
2015 - Blackout trim on windshield peeling took a day to replace the windshield.

In comparison:
Every Mercedes SL ('84, '90, '03) was nothing but problem after problem
Mercedes AMG GTS - System fault after 3 days, seat leather separating. Sold after 3 weeks and went back to my 2015 Corvette which other than not being as fast as the GTS, was a better car in every way.

So based on a lot of experience I think any serious problems are highly unlikely.

I've had an '84 for over 2 years and it's never broke down on me. Starts up every time.

It will be under warranty for 3 years so it really shouldn't matter in the unlikely event something were to happen.

Bought a new 2017 C7 Stingray manual transmission, daily commute to work every day for 2 years, 20k miles and 0 issues.

I'm sorry I work for General Motors for 40 years and every time I watch a review on a car this same question comes up whether they should wait after the first year it's a joke like you said these cars are tested to the max before they hit the production line with the mules and before they hit the Lots in the driveways people don't realize a lot of the parts that are on all of the cars are made by vendors and usually a problem with a car is a part that fails or has something wrong with it that a vendor has made but the GM workers in the assembly line people always get blamed for the Problem

Excellent diagnosis of the situation. I agree, it shouldn't be a problem. And that's coming from someone who doesn't buy American cars because of reliability issues. I trust this car. It i is an exception. It has the potential of being the best selling sports car of all time if chevy doesn't screw it up with greed or poor quality control.

The DCT is really the only thing I question on this car. And the clutch replacement price

While I wouldn't personally buy a car the first year production (excluding one year models like the gt3 for example), IF you're going to buy a first year car the c8 is prob the safest bet. GM has too much riding on this to let something catastrophic go wrong, but then again we are talking about the same company that refreshed one of the best looking modern vehicles in my opinion (the 2016-2018 camaro) for seemingly no reason just to make it look like crap! XD

I say go for it don’t listen to the haters. My girlfriend & I picked up her 2014 Corvette stingray from Texas back in March 2014. Considering that this particular Stingray was part of the first batch of stingrays it was delivered to the dealership in November 2013. They used it for automotive shows and exhibitions.
Any of the small problems that we came across Chevrolet had no hesitation in repairing it and warranting the defect.
She actually paid just under MSRP.
One thing I can tell you, it was really cool to having one of the very first 2014 Corvette stingray in Albuquerque New Mexico.
It felt as if we were with a famous celebrity. I didn’t really like the attention but it was part of driving such an exclusive Corvette at the time.
Hey thank you again for voting for me Mr WOW WOW WOW #27!

Always an honest, straightforward assessment of our beloved car. Great channel and I can't wait for us all grow with the C8.

You are 100% correct. We need to support this car. It’s an icon of America. GM and it’s customers should have honest relationships. Working together we would have better and better product. The more you give the more you get back .

I had a first year C4 1984 Z51 that had springs that were entirely too hard and which Chevy reduced the firmness in year 2 on coupled with front disc brakes that rattled incessantly. I had a brand new/ first year 2001 ZO6 that had major oil consumption problems due to bad piston ring design that Chevy fixed in year 2 ZO6's . First year anything is going to be much more problematic then subsequent year editions. Given so many first year changes to the car's basic design and engineering it's inevitable that they will have more problems. Given Corvettes historical overheating issues (e.g. latest ZO6 when tracked) and automatic trans issues (the latest Corvette automatic trans seems very problem plagued) coupled with my Corvette first year experiences I don't have high expectations that the first year C8 won't be somewhat unusually problem plagued.

I can't wait until the day I get to purchase one of these in a few years when I can personally afford one. GM really knocked it out of the park here! I've never been this stoked about a new car that is realistically ownable for me!

I fully understand all of the development and everything surrounding their testing, and even if it might be unreliable I'm willing to take that risk for this awesome car, Can't wait to see your CC&T
