Best NEW features in Logic Pro X (10.7.5 Update)

Logic's newest update (10.7.5) has 3 AWESOME new features, 2 of which are GAME CHANGERS (in my opinion). Let's look at them together in todays video.

nice tips! you can also do "SHIFT + CMD + G" and it was make a summation track for you. "SHIFT + ENTER" lets you rename tracks as well.

You can do the same thing as the gain tool by highlighting the area you want to change, even multiple tracks, and then dragging up/down on the sidebar gain section, instead of typing in values. May be faster for most than constantly switching between different tools.

I’m excited about having sub channels. Just being able to mix all vocals together, all guitar’s together, etc… THAT one feature is worth the upgrade.

Hey thanks for the great video, you seem to be knowledgeable and passionate about Logic and music in general - same as me. I found out that this passion and interest in music I've always had is actually due to ADHD. Found out at 40 years old. I reckon its a gift and all the good parts of it shine though as long as I am following my treatment plan.

Great that is (nestled track stacks), there are still no nested tuplets and tuplets across bar borders in score editor (waiting for this since version 1.0, yes i started using Logic on Atari back in 1993)!😭😅

Nice video. It sucks that all these years later, apple didn't develop a scanning system to look through your apps to check for update compatibility and take the guess work out. I got warnings that legacy extensions wouldn't work if I updated, so why not have a way to easily update them?? Also this could be done afterwards too, if your plug stopped functioning, simply click a patch button to fix. So we sit on systems that are 6/7 months out of date over the fear of broken capability.

So the difference between processing in Summing versus sending to a bus is that when you process in a sum all of the tracks affected, you can’t control individually how much they get whereas in a bus you can?

Great tips as usual Colin! I was not aware of track stacks or nestled track stacks. It seems that in terms of processing this would accomplish some of the same things you might do with a bus. How do you decide when to use a stack vs a bus?

Use this nested track stacks a plenty only to realize later that it's got problem exporting them as stems. Bug?

Is there an easy way to bounce to mono? In Protools I’m bouncing most VO files to mono and naming the file when I bounce depending on what client I’m voicing for. In Logic, bouncing a mix is always in stereo with no mono option, and the file name defaults to the project name. Logic seems almost perfect, but simple things like bouncing in mono or naming a bounce is a deal breaker if Logic can’t do it.

That gain tool is brilliant, a great reason for me to go to Logic from GarageBand among many other reasons. Using automation to do this is a pain and has really annoying side effects.
