I'm renewing my Sketch license. For me, being able to work offline, and as fast as possible, is paramount. There's just no way a Javascript-based Electron app is going to be as fast or memory-wise as a a native Mac app. I get that Figma has many cool features, an I hope some of them come to Sketch, but I prefer to support a fast, native Mac app over a cross-platform app.

Figma is good at some features Sketch lacks but damn, it requires sooo much handwork on big projects:
1) recoloring icons inside of components — breaks every time you change an icon; sometimes it doesn't break tho🤷‍♂️;
2) setting up and updating auto-layout — child layers never keep their setting when you change grouping or drag them out; that's not how css works in real-world web;
3) no inter-page prototyping, also the prototyping itself is not much better from what Sketch has — if your project is larger than a fancy dribbble concept, prepare for big spaghetti mess; smart animate is laggy at 90%;
4) tiny 3-level submenus and panels for tweaking text/color styles;
5) F is not able to run more than 1 plugin at a time.

Anyhow, Figma is a big threat to all available tools.
I can imagine google chrome's initial days when it was launched as the lightest and fastest browser and we can see where it's now.

My experience with Figma is that it always wants you to reauthenticate each morning when you start working which is really annoying and stops me from using it.

The last time when I tried to use Figma, my computer gave me a shocking warning about that this particular web application consumed too much memory... The whole browser window was slow down and tried to refresh itself every second, so I literally could not work at all. I have never experienced before such a thing in Adobe XD, Sketch, Xcode or even Blender 3D. Should I upgrade my incredible powerful iMac from 64GB memory to 128GB memory to run a web application in a browser? I’m so disappointed that many YouTubers don’t talk about this serious issue at all. You can not go wrong with Sketch, which is a native Mac application, in my opinion. Beside that, Figma costs $12/month, Adobe XD $10/month and Sketch $8.25/month (yearly payment).

Great and honest comparison! I am a Figma lover but I am looking forward to see how sketch will improve its software :)

Sketch is just so buggy now, Slower and slower looks like they are following Adobe steps!

The Apple Sketch library is very useful, but it annoys the hell out of me that they don't provide iPhone 7/8/SE2 sizes. It's like they don't want anyone to design for a phone without a notch, but the sad reality is that if you ship an app for iOS 14, you _must_ design for the tiny SE 1 and iPhone 7/8 sizes. (No choice about it.) But Apple don't provide the resources... grr.
