The $4 haircut was a lot more thorough than what I'd get at a typical discount salon. We would call the expensive haircut a spa treatment. That's a pretty good price for all of that.

I had a haircut when I lived in Japan.
The old man cutting my hair asked how I'd like my hair cut, and I said short.
Before he started, he patted my hair, then started running his fingers through my hair. He did it for a about a minute or so, then asked me in Japanese if I was Chinese.
I told him my Grandparents are from China but moved to Vietnam.
I was impressed that he could tell just by feel and he said Japanese hair is very thick and dry but my hair was straight smooth and soft.
