I wish that someone told me exactly the stuff you covered in this video when I started designing/animating.
As someone who's been in the industry for 5 years now I can't agree more with the way you covered things.
Thank you for the great content!

I'm trying to grasp this craft and your channel is really useful. Sometimes I feel down but the idea of setting up a course of study by myself is great. I was trying to do a lot of animations but I never went to a course and unfortunately I can't, so I think I really need a full immersion into design basics. Thank you Robyno for your content, really appreciate it.

I graduated w a BA in graphic design and was exposed to a bit of animation toward the end of my degree. I wanted to combine the two more and have been working on my own 2D animations ever since. I think motion graphics is for me and ill be watching all your content and studying up so i can one day get a job in this field. Ty for all your advice!

I am just starting to teach myself motion graphics, I liked your idea of creating a course for my self to follow. I'd love you to do a video on how someone could design their own course.

This is great. There are so many free resources out there. But it's surprising how many motion "designers" out there don't have a clue about design. There's so many disciplines to mograph, but if you had to pick one I'd say learn good design. If the design is poor it doesn't matter how well animated it is. But loads of great tips here. I'd also add showing your work to other people. Either a mentor or find a community where you'll get honest feedback. Nobody does their best work in a vacuum. You need bounce off other people and if you're new get feedback which helps push you and make the work better

Girl, I love you for this tutorial. All the steps that you told, I have expected for myself, especially the thing with the deadline is so important. Since I don't have any showreel, I have to set myself some animations to create my reel at least. Also I booked a course at School of Motion, hopefully I can earn money in the future with this. I love motion graphics design and also 3d :) people like u keep me more and more motivated. thank you so much. all the best

Some great tips for a self-taught animator like myself, thank you! It's interesting that you mentioned bloated files, as this is something I struggle with. I use a combination of photoshop with davinci resolve for animating, and I find that if I use any textures in my photoshop files the final animated file is often gigantic even without any effects, whereas without textures, even 4k files with masses of added effects end up very light. If you have any tips about this that would be great!

It's amazing how much easier it has gotten for people to get into the industry and I don't think people realize it.
