Finding Vendrick silently pacing back and forth in the dark was just sad, especially when you learn how he ended up there. Even in his hollow form, though, you don't do any meaningful damage to him until you gather four or five giant souls. Man was a beast of a hollow, so I can't imagine how much more powerful he was in life. Vendrick and Aldia were a true Greek tragedy of noble intentions going horrible awry.

After beating Messmer, instead of cursing YOU he curses his own mother(Marika) for plucking out his eye and inserting her own seal to brainwash him, using him to genocide her oppressors and then locking him away forever in an unreachable land of shadow and misery with the people he massacred, where no one will ever remember him and he will be forced to kill all that approach him in front of a statue of her holding him as a baby, a statue he looks at before forsaking her in order to defeat you which ends with you killing him and only in his last moments realizing that she forsook him, manipulated him, used him, abused his power, neglected him and enslaved him all this time for her own gain which ended up being for nothing…

Killing Gherman feels really sad cause at the end of Bloodborne you're just mentally scarred invididuals both you and Gherman trying to give each other a mercy kill to finally end the nightmare of the hunt
