LG Magic Remote: How to Turn Pointer ON & OFF

I show you enable (turn on) and disable (turn off) the pointer (mouse pr arrow) on the LG smart TV Magic Remote Control. Note that i could not figure out how to permanently disable the pointer but if you know plz comment! Hope this help.

The problem is it's very easy to accidentally scroll before i push the wheel, then pointer is elsewhere and it clicks something else, it's BAD design and no way to disable it... these developers are really something

Glad I saw this, I was leaning towards an LG mainly for the pointer as I hate inputting passwords etc in apps via the arrow key but after watching this I can see how annoying it could actually be 😆

Yeah, it's magic alright. Pick up the remote and try to do anything and it magicly pisses you off.

I personally hate the pointer wish I could remove it permanently the option on my TV will let me make it bigger or smaller but not remove this is something they really need to fix

Mine does the stupid thing even if you just wiggle the remote

Next to the wheel, there are arrows, up, down, left, right. We can use these arrows to make selections if the pointer is not visible.
To restart the pointer first press the settings button on the remote (a star) opposite the home button (a house). On the left of the screen new icons appear and use the down arrow to select the bottom icon (all settings icon appearing on the screen). Do not turn the wheel but press the wheel into the remote and this will restart the pointer.

Here is the answer you're all needing.
First, you have to edit the quick menu options (the options you have when you press the settings button); Then, include the option "screen off" by clicking on the + button (you'll have to remove one option if there are no slots available). Press "home" to get rid of this quick menu. Unregister the remote by holding back + home. After you get the pop-up message, press the settings button to open the quick menu. From there, go to "screen off" and press the scroll wheel. You will barely see a pop-up message that the remote is being registered again, but the screen will go off. Finally, just press the scroll wheel again so the screen will turn on, and that's it. You can scroll the wheel or press the scroll wheel all you want and it won't come back. .

Bear in mind that the scroll function will no longer work and the microphone function will also cease.

I've had my TV for 4 or 5 years and all of a sudden I turn it on one day and my pointer is not responding so I don't know what's going on maybe I'm going to try and change the batteries hopefully that will help

I like the arrow just wish it pointed where you're pointing... the off angle seems to be every tv... wish you could calibrate your position

I would like the cursor if it’s alignment wasn’t so god awful. Where you’re pointing isn’t always where the cursor goes

Another way to temporarily disable it is to press the "Back" button + "Home" button until the mouse disappears. To bring it back, use the scroll wheel.

There should be another way to turn it on. Because using scroll does not just turn it on, it scrolls immediately, so you have to scroll back again before you do anything.

The pointer is really helpful if you watch a lot of YouTube videos or when you need to type in a screen keyboard. I love it and I just buy LG TVs because of this remote.

The only way to get rid of the pointer is to purchase a 2nd remote. The mouse won't work on the send one. This TV is crap because of this one annoying feature that could so easily be disable in setting if they took the time to add that.
