Instead of using a hair dryer, try damp hair, apply sea salt, comb through the opposite side you want to style it, then let it dry naturally, then apply product in damp or dry hair since it has more resistance to the side you style to, it will create volume

Thanks for this! I am female but I just got my hair cut really short (effectively a short back and sides) and my boyfriend suggested sea salt spray, after this I know more why he recommended it, I'll give it a go

Ok, a bit of complaining: I really find it hard to not wash my hair every 2 days. It stinks and feels greasy. BUT if I use a product on hair, the grease disappears, but the smell remains. My mum said this to me, when I only washed my hair once in 2 weeks, and I can't disagree. I really don't like stinky hair. Do you find your hair stinks?
