Slowly killing off the needs for human workers.

Trader Joe’s vows to never automate their stores. They say they value their employees too much to do it. They also provide benefits to all employees, including part-time employees. They also contribute to employee’s IRA’s even if the employee doesn’t contribute. I think there are some criteria that needs to be met first though. I know which store I’d rather support.

The part where they throw away the food if it's over weight is just wasteful, I know this technology is still young and everything is not perfect but I have to say Amazon determination to make this system mainstream is mind-blowing

*The brain needs human interaction*
for some people, specially senior citizens
interacting with staff and cashiers is part *of a social experience. it can be* therapeutic in some cases, In a city like London where we rarely interact with each other, this technology just grows us apart even more. If this is the future of shopping, I am worried. Will Robots really rule everything around us?!
Great content anyways. thank you!🇬🇧👍🏾

i refuse doing my grocery without cashier or any store clerk in it unless the food is 50% cheaper otherwise what's the point? big stores just want to save the margin at the cost of human lives, yeah no thanks.

Scary - A number of people are going to get laid off, cameras everywhere, no human interaction, and you don't see your receipt until you get home - No Thanks.

I like it. But I disapprove this technology because it's replacing the human employment and more people become unemployed

Yeah, wouldn’t want to be confronted with a human being in my day to day life. I dunno, if I thought automation was going to free us up for more exciting and fulfilling lives without mindless work, and we’d somehow have money, I’d be behind it. But I just figure this will cost jobs and there won’t be any other options provided for the people who used to do this work. Plus, I don’t know if it’s great for society to be this empty void of robots and whatever remaining staff hidden from view.

This shows just how much information can be retrieved from you phone. It’s actually scary

The loss of jobs is sad but also the further complete de-personalization of everything we do I think is damaging to society. You don’t have to interact with anyone. Sad.

Theres probably a 20% chance you get overcharged and a 30% chance you get undercharged.People dont just grab items, they pick them up, put them back, this technology is going to have flaws. It will take 50 years for this to be done on a widespread basis.

Now rich people don’t even have to interact with the poor at grocery stores. INNOVATION!

A certain group of people already do this daily in California, at any store they want, without any consequences.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that doesn't think it's a good idea. No I won't shop at a store that destroys jobs and still waste food. I know they say they donate some food but instead of throwing away what they don't donate, how about just selling it for a set discounted price?

I’m 63 and due to needing extra income with only getting social security, I am starting a job as a cashier at a local Walmart. I don’t see this type of shopping coming there anytime soon.

I won't shop at a store that uses this technology or similar. As it's a way for companies to remove employees the human element and replace humans with technology. I will continue to shop where I can interact with someone. I have only purchased 3 things from online in 6 years. Because I refuse to sacrifice someone's job /hours and pay in the name of technology ! There's something's that a machine will never be able to do as good as a human...

Do your fellow humans a service and don’t shop at stores like this.

This method of shopping is not green at all.

That’s beyond creepy, a total invasion of privacy, and the lack of personal interaction is unnerving and dystopian. I will not shop at Starbucks or WholeFoods.
