My dog likes having it’s belly rubbed so much that it will gesture me with a paw, and then lay on it’s back, as if to say “it’s belly time.”

I remember working and standing security, a lady walked with her dog. It’s been a while since I’ve seen my dogs due to all the travel I have to do. The lady walked up with her dog, which was a small fluffy poodle. The dog ran up to me and immediately showed it’s belly.

It wasn’t out of fear or anything. It just knew that it could get tummy rubs from me. The lady was so nice too. She told me the dog’s name was Baby. I was so happy that day.

Probably because it feels good. I know that’s why I like having my belly rubbed...

My dog absolutely hates her feet touched, tail, and generally her belly. Unless it's myself doing the touching. She doesn't like her nails cut by anyone unless I'm doing it. She's a very dont touch me kinda dog unless she lets you. Which makes everyone jealous of me that the grumpy dog only likes me 😂

We have three rescues. They were never socialized, so it took a while for them to warm up to us. A few weeks after we got them home, two of them showed their bellies for the first time. I almost cried from happiness. The next day, the third dog showed his belly. They all got gentle rubs. Now, a year later, they just push into my bubble and paw at my hands for pets or attention. Or they lift a leg when I get close and they're laying down to prompt belly rubs. All day. Every day. I love them so much! My fur babies. 💜

When I’m walking over to my roommate’s dog he’s already making his way onto his back (in a ‘pet me’ type of way)before I get to him 😂it’s so hilarious

Naturally they don't expose themselves that easily but when they do, they trust you.

My Pom actually sleeps spread eagle on her back. Hard to tell if she wants a belly rub or just a nap.

My dog loves to get belly rubs she will come lay next to me when I am laying down and show me her tummy.. If I don't rub the tmmy she will roll toward me to get my attention.. But if I don't run it still she will just go in a circle and lay down and sleep.. She gives up. That kinda makes me sad.. I always want her to be happy, but sometimes I am too tired for belly rubs.

My 13 year old Chihuahua, Jack, has never rolled over for a belly rub. His parents were quite the opposite though. Otherwise Jack has no issues with me and others who he knows petting him anywhere else, especially his head, neck/behind his ears, and on top of his butt. 💗🐶

My dog wants to be touched. She seems to not give a heck where, just hand-on-dog please. (The only time she kicks her leg is when you scratch her chin with a brush, unsure what that implies lol).
Rubbing her belly puts her to sleep. She also was pretty chill about me poking her post-op scar after getting galbladder stones removed. It was an ugly scar, so I checked on it every now and hen, but goodness, why the *hell* did she keep rolling over when I didn't want to see it??? 🤣

One of my dogs has been doing it...everyone says I favor her and she favors me. My other dog was originally my brother’s before he got COVID and got really sick. I took his dog and while she is very fond of me and doesn’t even seem to miss my brother, she is not as playful or affectionate. Matter of fact she used to bite. Lately she’s starting to want belly rubs or SEEM to want them. I go to rub it and she snaps at me!! It’s like hold up, didn’t you ask for it...but maybe she’s just agreeing to be submissive? Or may she sees me rub my original pups belly and tried and realized it wasn’t for her?? Idk...
