Did you know I've made over 800+ other videos on YouTube? Hit that *SUBSCRIBE* button and watch another Barnacules Nerdgasm video right after this one! 🍿 I finally received my Ultimaker v2 thanks to my buddy Sander who has been a huge support to my 3D printing adventures. I have had the Ultimaker 1 for a while and have done tons of prints and the thing is an absolute dream but it lacks a heated bed and looks like it was built in wood shop. So I was super excited to see the Ultimaker v2 looking like a Ferrari with it's frosted translucent sides and very tidy wiring and not to mention the bed and most beautiful build platform I've ever seen. The printer also had some features that I wasn't expecting like an LED illuminated build platform that will make all my future 3D printing videos on this unit look AMAZING!

NOTES
The bad print quality on the test print was due to the broken cooling fan from shipping/customs. The print quality will be perfect once I replace the fan arrives which Ultimaker has already shipped to me! They have fantastic support.

The Ultimaker 2
To operate the Ultimaker 2 you don't need any specific technical knowledge. Every part has been redesigned to create one of the highest performing 3D printer available on the market, but also a very reliable one.

Low cost material

Open source
Just like the Original the Ultimaker 2 will remain open source. We dare to share our knowledge because we believe we can achieve even more when working together.

Easy to use and reliable
To operate the Ultimaker 2 you don't need any specific technological knowledge. With its 49 decibel it's a quiet machine. Because the electronics are bundled the Ultimaker 2 is stable and reliable. With its nice design the Ultimaker 2 is suitable in any working or living interior.

Designed for non-expert and expert
We've made the Ultimaker 2 to be as easy as possible. You don't need to have a huge technological background to understand our printer. At the same time we've developed the printer in a way that it's still interesting for experts to work and create with.

Larger build ratio
We've managed to get an even better print-to-size ratio. This means the printer size has remained the same, and the print envelope became bigger.

Low cost material
Beside the fact that the Ultimaker doesn't use a lot of power, the material you use to print is also low cost. This makes the use of an Ultimaker very affordable.

This video. This video is what got me into 3D Printing. I don't know if I'd be into 3D Printing as I am now. I've spent weeks watching 3D Printing videos for _years_ after watching this video. And only within the last did I get my first printer. It's honestly incredible

I converted my solidoodle 2 over to a glass bed and I. Love. It! Best part is if you have an extra glass sheet, you can take it off, replace it, and print again immediately. Cheap and easy upgrade. I ran it the other day without hair spray or a raft and I swear it gave the bottom of my piece a mirror finish... AND IT DIDN'T CURL!

Nice review thanks.
I bought my UltiMaker 2 at Xmas after 2 days usage it is now defect. contacted the UM support they suggested to return the unit for a replacement/refund within 14 days to the official dealer..
phoned the dealer & they offered a refund so i returned my unit. Now they are telling me they cannot refund because the unit is defect.
Either i accept a 3-4 weeks repair or i accept the refund minus the repair costs - Great service that is!

DHL is a bad company, I worked for them for 2 weeks and I can honestly say that they don't give two f**ks about the customer. Just thought I would throw that out there :) I love these 3D printing videos :)

Your vids are AWESOME! Think TV host dude; you are a natural talent and gifted communicator. I can't wait to see more ultimaker 2 vids also.

I would really like to see you try to get review units of competitors and really put together a comprehensive review video, or two, one full length, one abridged. These units are facinating, and your present experience and tech expertise would contribute greatly beyond simply researching. Largely because, if anyone is getting into it for the first time, the technical nuances and differences between companies and models might not seem significant when they actually are.

Just a quick tip, I have sandblasted the glass plate on my reprap and that has work beautifully everything sticks. Even a little to much sometimes ;)
