Great points. I appreciate you using the term “negligent” discharge. Too often we hear “accidental”.. they are almost always negligent.

I have found that every method of of concealed carry is dangerous according to Youtube.

Been using a Galco under wraps belly band for 15 years. Went from college, through police training, carrying off duty while jogging, etc. Never had an issue. Hands down best belly band you can buy.

The other side of the story. I have an Undertech BB with retention strap. I literally cannot pull the trigger of my G19 with it in the pouch, even trying with both hands. It cannot slip down as shown. It is ultra comfortable. Also works great with my 2" snub-nosed 38 and a full sized 1911.

Never thought of these issues with a bellyband - really good thoughts on your part - thanks very kindly for posting this !!

The issues you brought up about re holstering and about the firearm creeping down in a belly band are valid concerns and good to know. I wasn't aware of that. I was looking into the belly band but now I'll look at other options.

Crossbreed Bellyband is sold with a firearm specific Kydex holster.

I love my belly band. I pulled the stitching out from the gun pocket, put velcro inside, and on a kydex holster because I did not like the retention, or the sang of the front site. Works great. Very comfortable, and I just put velcro on other holsters for the guns I wish to carry.

Typically excellent work. Unmodified belly bands (without a kydex insert) fails at least two of the criteria for a safe holster.

I have been in the market for a belly band holster, and after watching your video, I am really having to do some research into what kind of belly band holster I want to get that offers all of the protections that I need. Thanks for making the video, it is super informative.

The Brave Response band style holster minimizes a lot of these issues. It doesn't allow the gun to be pushed down too far into holster. It is collapsible, but not entirely, so reholstering is easy. It has a unique strap that pulls the grip of the gun inwards. It really is a fantastic design for those who need to carry independent of a belt or waistband.

I sometimes carry a revolver in a belly band holster fitted to it. It can’t go any deeper, has adequate trigger protection for a double action revolver, has a thumb break retention, and is completely hidden in a baggy t-shirt.

I rarely comment on video content, although I watch dozens of videos per week, even per day off YouTube. You make some valid points in this video - arguments that people wouldn't easily realize, most notiably about the inadvertent trigger pull while in the belt. That is a very serious design flaw. If you are carrying a gun in a belly belt all day, you would probably tend to forgot you have it on at times, which could lead to big problems if one of the risks you mentioned actually happened. Thank you for your content!

The trigger issue is why I have always liked pistols with a manual safety. I hate when people say " your trigger finger is the safety". Other things can pull the trigger besides a finger.

Thank you for the Excellent explanations of possible problems with belly band usage.

Came across this video, and first thing I said is, HERE WE GO.

To categorize every belly band is unsafe is over reaching. In general you want to find a belly band that allows you to use its own brand holster or any other holster that protects the trigger guard at all times.

Example, crossbreed 1.0 or their new version 2.0, you have to buy specific holster for your EDC. That solves your safety issue of accidental discharge. Another one is black hawk stache, use their n.a.c.h.o holsters and that as well solves your safety issue. But this one also allows you to use other brand holsters.

However, without proper training with the holster and chosen belly band, you must first get familiarize with proper holster and unholster. Before you attempt to holster fully loaded.

And even on a full kydex or polymer holster, a misfire can occur. First safety rule, never have your finger on the trigger. Second look where your holster to assure there are no objects that can potentially cause a discharge as you holster your weapon.

Proper training and proper holster/carrying solves all your theories about belly bands and accidental discharges.

I use both OWB and IWB and belly band, both kydex and polymer holster with one in the chamber for about 10 years. And proper training and knowledge of the EDC your carrying and not once have I run into any of your theories.

And for those who won’t carry with one in the chamber or must have safety manual, they all have pros and cons. But to dumb it down, it comes down to proper training. And having a safety or empty chamber can cause you your life if you don’t properly train.

None of my EDC have a safety and always one in the chamber. And yes my finger is my safety. Go study the dumb people or better yet, go watch the dumb people who negligently discharged their fire arm. Finger was on the trigger, being dumb and did not check to see their shirt was in their holster that cause the discharge. It’s called proper training.

Stop trying to promote by putting all other belly bands down. I know. A lot of people who threw the enigma in the trash or gave it away for free.

Over get educated and properly train with the weapon and holster your going to carry.

I couldn’t agree more, I bought one last week and after 10 minutes of monkeying with it deemed it dangerous and immediately called the company for a refund for all the reasons you explained here. Thank you for getting this out to the general public

You are right. For some guns, my J-frame Smiths, my CZ75c, I would not be terribly worried about it due to the long, relatively heavy DA pull. But I do carry Glocks from time to time, and this is definitely a legitimate beef. Promptly ordered a trigger cover for $11 off Ebay. I rarely use a BB holster, I don't find them comfortable as I am edging up toward "chubby" in my old age and I'm limited in holster position due to a badly damaged shoulder. I can't reach behind my hip and pull a pistol up out of a holster. I have yet to find one of these belly bands that has any kind of sweat guard to keep the rear of the slide, hammer, rear sight from gouging the heck out of me unless I wear and undershirt and put the holster over it. Not comfy in Florida's heat. But I do occasionally wear the shoulder holster style with a western-style snap front shirt when I can't get away with anything else.
