Terrific Full Stall During The Fearless Winch Tow Takeoff. Paragliding is an adventurous as well as dangerous sport. The same goes with Powered Paragliding(PPG) and hang gliders. Things can GO Wrong no matter what. Paragliders end in water landing. Factors contributing to Paragliding, hang gliding and paramotor include human factors as well as the forces of nature. Paragliding, Speedflying, Acro Paragliding, Paramotor, Hang Gliding, powered paragliding and hike & fly give great flying experience but they also pose greater risks including injury or at worst loss of life.

This video does not cover fatal accidents. Prime purpose is to understand the forces of nature and any mistakes to learn from. Many respected pilots shared their mistakes so that other pilots can learn about them and avoid them.

1) Not "before releasing the winch" - or too far before, because the pulling line was attached all the time, till the crash. Drag was off, it's true.
2) Bot "his wing collapsed", - it is obvious full stall due to brakes (look at the back side of the wing).

My guess.
Pulling was failed. Most probably, the line stuck onto something on the ground, close to the epicenter. The vector of dragging became directed down.
This is shown with small green parachute at the connection of the pulling line.

The pilot expected that the wing will dive forward as it usually happens on the failure. And he compensated this pitch before / instead of it happened.
Braking was too much, he stalled the wing.

The pilot realised what he did and released brakes. The wing went from stall and did a smaaall acceleration dive. The pilot was fraightened and braked again, till the end.

After that, the wing fell in a parachute mode, with helicopter and backflight figures.

Height is too small to use rescue.
What was really help is just release brakes again.

That was almost like he did it on purpose, like that was a perfect stall to backfly, then maintained parachutal. haha! Hope he had his PLF ironed out that was a hard hit!

at 0:38 he applies the brakes fully and causes the glider to stall. There he is still on the tow rope. Hands up would have helped

Вот и скажите, зачем он сорвал крыло? Ни с того ни с сего затянул клеванты до жопы. Что это было?

The winch stopped pulling, that why the glider took a dive forwards.

Any feedback on if the pilot escaped without injury?
I hope so.

It looks to me like he applied brake all the way. At the beginning of the start he applied break witch made him come off the ground quickly, but after that he should release them fully, and only use the breake lines to steer. During the climb his arms were low, so he didn’t fully release them. and just before the stall moment you can see that the whole trailing edge is down. That was an expensive lesson😢, hope he was ok!
