In this video Leah discusses the intricacies of VA disability ratings for depression among veterans. She explains that depression, a common mental health disorder among veterans, is characterized by various symptoms lasting more than two weeks as defined by the DSM-5. Leah highlights that both psychologists and psychiatrists, as well as mid-level providers like nurse practitioners and physician assistants, can diagnose and treat depression. She distinguishes between primary and secondary service connections for depression, with primary relating to incidents during active duty and secondary stemming from other service-connected disabilities. Ratings for depression can range from 0 to 100, depending on the severity and impact on life, with a 100 rating indicating severe impairment, including self-harm and suicidal tendencies.

Hello fellow vets. Leah is the best! She writes a very detailed nexus letters and DBQ's. She helped move me from 60% to 100% P&T. She is very professional, and is a straight shooter. I highly recommend her. Thank-you Leah for all your help and great information!!

I've won 3 claims because of Heather Call from Prestige. I highly recommend this company. She reviewed my medical records very thoroughly and was able to provide positive Nexus letters and DBQ'S on my behalf. 🙏💪❤️

DBQS and other research will help you tune-in on your symptoms...you have to voice those symptoms.

My C&P exam for mental is tomorrow. I have my Nexus letter from y'all, so hopefully that will help a lot with the claim and I'll get a decent examiner that will pay attention to what I say. Have had really bad exams in the past.

I used the nexus provided by you and I was denied for major depressive disorder with anxious distress (previously claimed as depression and anxiety conditions). Additional to the nexus letter I also provided a medication list, buddy letter, personal statement as well. Should I put in another claim as secondary rather than primary?

Hello, I just received a overall rating of 80% by the VA, -Camp Lejeune (PACT), I contracted Bladder Cancer & Prostate Cancer. I was rated 50% for PTSD, and other mental disorders.
Question: Is it acceptable by the VA, for me to ask the Phycologist who did the examine, to write a NEXUS or in support of my DISABILITY UNEMPLOYABILITY- Claim? I assume h'e's contracted by the VA. I believe it would be acceptable under VA Directive 1134(2). Thanks for all the help you have afford us Vet's

Hey ma'am, thank you for sharing all the info. Currently at 90%. Have an appt with a VA doc for depression due to chronic back pain, mixed with a little ptsd from 2017. Would I be prescribed something? Also, can I put in for a claim after the first visit? Thanks!

Been out of the service a little over 20 years and just realizing I had access to VA Healthcare. Just got diagnosed with persistent depression disorder and PTSD from traumatic event during active duty. Going through treatment for that so we'll be in touch with you guys soon. Do I have a shot or will they blow me off because of the amount of time that has passed?

I’m still active duty. Is an opinion from a therapist sufficient for the VA rating, or does it need to be from a doctoral-level provider?

Not really related but I had a therapy session with a psychologist back in 2021 and I disclosed that I was adopted when I was younger and had bad grades in school. From 2022-present I’ve been dealing with mentally taxing depression and anxiety that stemmed from a few in-service events. I’ve sought out mental therapy for almost three years now, have been checked in to the psych-ward, and am currently doing out-patient therapy (all in Service treatment records, along with ICD diagnosis). My question would be, am I screwed in my Mental Health claim because I disclosed my adoption during my childhood and also stated that I felt bad for a few months? Current diagnosis of MDD, GAD, and Adjustment Disorder within the past 12-months. Currently on active duty and will be utility BDD in 3-months.

Thanks in advance
