The Maus Tank's Rare Brother

The German Maus heavy tank is one of the most famous vehicles in War Thunder ground battles, but its sibling the E-100 is arguably even more legendary. It has been offered a few times as a tournament reward, and I don't own it, but Gaijin was kind enough to give me a test drive.

Fun fact about the E-100: if it ever mounted the maus's turret the suspension would collapse since it couldn't handle the excess weight compared with the krupp turret

I recently had a war thunder match, there was one E-100 that just cleaned us out. Compared to the Maus, the people who own the E-100 are always super skilled so it's a lot harder to beat.

I think the main reason why Gaijin went with the Maus turret for the E-100, since (l think it was in a documentary about the Maus). The germans did have a E-100 hull and used a wooden Maus turret on it. So when the Russians found them (Maus and E-100), both had same turret. Even though we got blueprints with different turret for it.

I have held for a long time that playing a tank whose armor works, like the Maus, Jumbo, or Black Prince, makes enemy players just go straight stupid mode. They forget how to aim, where to shoot, positioning, they just want you dead so bad they look stupid and also kill themselves on you. It's great fun.

Play the silly RBT-5 which gets 250kg tank “torpedoes” at 1.3, which can be incredibly strong against open-tops which it can overpressure to about 40m (of which you will see lots at low tier)

I'm still amazed how the designers for the E-100 or originally the tigermaus had the audacity to slap on the tiger IIs transmission on it, at least with the maus you have parts and mechanisms specially built for such a weight even if the maus was heavier and not add an already overloaded transmission onto a vehicle twice its weight from its originally intended vehicle.

I've only ever run into a single E-100 and it was in my T-95 we both got barreled and tracked and just stared at each other while the rest of our teams fought using us as cover. funniest shit ever
