HVAC Blower Motor Class! PSC Motor Speeds, Colors, Ohms, Current, Shorts, Air Restrictions!

In this HVAC Training Video, I show Furnace and Air Handler Blower Fan Motor Operation, Speeds, Wire Colors, Electrical Resistance Values on the Windings, How to Rest for Shorts, and How These PSC Blower Motors are Affected by Airflow Restrictions. PSC means Permanent Split Capacitor Motor. This Means that the Motor Requires a Capacitor to both Start and to Run. Supervision is needed by a licensed HVACR Tech while performing tasks as Experience and Apprenticeship garners Wisdom and Safety.

The most common issue service techs have when testing blower motor amperage in the field is leaving the blower door off. This will give an amperage that is out of spec and confuse a tech. And sadly, its used as a means to show a customer their motor is bad and sell them a new one. Better to plan on using a wire outside of blower compartment, even the plug wire can work by deducting inducer voltage from total if the heat is video.
