Great video as always :) . My first motor was a lawn mower - loved that motor - I was 8 years old in 1965. It blew a pistol ring. I ordered a new ring from the Sears catalog and rode my bike 4 miles to get the ring for $1.22 back then. My father was very encouraging at the time: "You broke the lawn mower? You better fix it before I get back from work." Sad day for me. Over all I learned to just buy broken things for nothing and fix them up. Best life story for me. My father however thinks I'm a genus now because I can fix anything without buying parts. :) . He is now 93 and a WW2 veteran. Glad I am part of his family tree. I now work at John Deere. HEhe.

My mechanic where I live in MA is pretty much a Scotty with a different name, and he says too that you shouldn't change the transmission fluid in the American cars from the old era

I like Scotty he is correct and has great advice on Cars & Trucks & SUV's and rocket Auto machines, !!! But In near 50 years of working on these machines, Depends on the situation (Vehicle) of course Mileage and Overall condition , I have found that draining the transmission fluid and changing the transmission filter Will improve transmission function and has on Every vehicle done in these years . Exception is A Total Wreck Auto Transmission ! Fact is nobody can get ALL old transmission fluid out of the transmission without disassembling the transmission, there will be Old transmission fluid left in the torque converter . Metal shavings from Wear, plug up the transmission filter over time and should be changed . There is a magnet in Most All Auto transmission cover pans that collect some of these metal shavings metal dust from the transmission fluid, But not all of it, when you take the cover pan off you shall see these metal shavings / dust stuck to the magnet. IMO and findings . But You Can't Improve A Total Wreck Auto Transmission .

Okay now that I'm getting a new car and everything and I'm going to have to change everything myself this actually is very helpful because I had to do this for my dad's old car because he didn't even know how to do this and he wouldn't take his car into the shop. He says they ripped him off and don't just make more problems with the car so he has to keep coming back and paying them more.

Trans fluid debates give me anxiety. I have a 2002 Ford Ranger that runs great. I did a trans flush at 68k miles and I'm about to hit 163k and I haven't touch the trans since. It shifts fine and I'm not sure to flush, drop and refill, or leave it alone.

If it were serviced at proper intervals you need to change filter and oil .
I service trans at what it says in owners manual .
