I have both an R8, and Net Radar (not covered in this vdeo) in two different vehicles. The R8 is very sensitive and picks up everything quickly. But in the case of lidar, it's just a ticket notified if you're speeding and don't have good laser protection. I have an integrated Net Radar DSP (F&R) and Anti-Laser Priority (5 head-F&R) in my other vehicle. It is excellent and has never let me down. Fortunately, I live in an area where K band is not a threat, so I turn it off and that avoids a lot of falsing. The R8 falses a lot on K Band, to the point that I found it to be annoying. Same with Net Radar. In both instances I supplement the setups with the Highway Radar app which is EXCELLENT. It is fully integrated to work with the R8 and automatically gets crowd sourced data from other sources around you, like WAZE. On the Net Radar I use an old phone that I leave in the vehicle for the display, which works great. It really gets down to your preferences. Absolute longest range is not as big discriminator in the real world. Net Radar gives plenty of warning, even off-axis. The Highway Radar app usually beats BOTH in giving advanced warning when you are on roads with more traffic. Plus it gives you aircraft information that can be useful.

I bought the uniden R4 one year ago and it has saved me at least 20 times, it's basically an R8 without the arrows. Incredible range... notifications from 2-3 miles away sometimes. My toy car is a Honda S2000 and I've seen 140 mph in it and R4 protected..
