I bought the Uniden R8 after watching a few of your videos. Detector arrived in the evening, so I got it hooked up and connected to R8 companion for my drive to work the next morning. Within the first block of leaving my neighbor hood there was a bogey lurking behind some shrubs before I could even make it to the first intersection. I was a little worried I wouldn't get to see a real signal for a while but it was literally the first signal identified on my R8!

I ran 4000 miles to California and back in my charger 🔌, used a v1g2 with jbv1, protected me against every encounter, I had plenty of time to slow down to psl and also awareness of a cop moving around, which I encountered in Louisiana against a lidar strike. My car will go from zero to prison time in just a few seconds, so it's important to have a quality RD when alot is at stake.

Been running the Uniden DFR7 since 2017 for my daily driver and its been a outstanding radar detector paired with Waze for the highway or rural driving. Just updated the firmware to 1.12 and database files today. I plan to purchase a sports car for 2024 and will be taking some road trips. I plan to purchase the Uniden R4, when the price drops back down to $300. All purchases, configurations, and pick for radars has come from Vortex channel. The Uniden detector has saved me numerous times from passing or making a minor mistake over the years that could have cost me thousands in insurance fees and fines. Thank you Vortex!

Long time v1 user, just got a g2, v1 g1 has saved me many times and the sounds a v1 makes it’s always clear when it’s a serious threat. The updates via BT and the supporting apps available made me stay loyal to the brand.

I live in the DFW area, in Tx, and ive been running the Uniden DFR7 for 3-4 years extremely reliably. Cops around here either don't turn off their radar systems, or can't, because this champ picks up every police vehicle, nomatter what city. The Uniden DFR7 is absolutely phenomenal for the price point, even in 2024.

Been following your channel for a few years now. Love my R7. Run it (in a Blendmount hardwired to my rearview mirror) and Waze daily in my Mach 1, which is the perfect combo for me. Bought it in fall of 2019 after your and others' positive reviews. As a Valentine 1 user since 1996, and a Passport user before that, I was pretty disappointed in the V1Gen2, especially the lack of integrated GPS. I was counting on the R7 being top of the line for a while. Surprised it was only for 3 years. Not nearly enough difference for me to upgrade to the R8 though, especially for the $200 difference. Keep up the great work Ariel!

I can get the Uniden R4 with tax at $292 and the Cobra 700i at $181 both new of course. And i only want a radar detector because sometimes i do some pulls and i want to make sure no cop is around or when i go and i trip sometimes i want to speed a little bit more

Great reviews Vortex. Running R7 with customized setting in expert mode and is very quiet. Tried all but still coming back for the R7. Radar detector users also need to know how police radar works and their limitations. Knowing their limitations adds protection to yourself. Also understand that radar detectors have their own limits too and seasoned LEO knows how to defeat radar detectors as well. Having a high end radar detector, a good knowledge, understanding of how police radar works, having good situatioan awareness and a rabbit will reduce chances of getting caught. NEVER DEPEND of your radar detector alone even if it is considered THE BEST. It is a false sense of security.

Well it finally happened. My 2007 escort passport 8500 x50 finally died almost 18 years of daily service. 375, 000 miles I guess it fell off my dashboard one too many times due to extreme weather temps. Thanks for this video. Looks like I'll be looking at a uniden r4.

Thanks Vortex!, I have had the R3 and R7 and had plenty of false alarms. I have been VERY surprised using the Cobra RAD 700i because it has had the fewest false alarms close to (maybe 1) in MPLS city driving! With that said, I like the integration with the APP where it alerts me of other Cobra Detectors Alerts - thinking of getting the Dash Cam for Cobra if the false alarms stay so low... I hope you do the review on it soon.
