The furry fandom is a topic I haven’t discussed in a while, however, some new news has surfaced that warrants another discussion. Let’s dive in.

A lot of the “female” fur suits are actually men inside too.

Honestly, as an artist that has been commissioned by and made friends with a few furries, they are usually not that bad, and are actually some of the best paying customers of mine. I’ve never been asked to draw anything se*ual, or anything gross at all in all of my 10+ years of experience. From what I’ve seen, furries aren’t even defined by wearing suits; they usually are just people who enjoy anthropomorphic animal media (like Robinhood, Zootopia, Lady and The Tramp, etc) and like to make their own anthro characters and storylines. It’s really no different than writing an elf or mermaid character, and it is certainly not a fetish on its own. HOWEVER I will say, it gets too extreme sometimes and then thats when it becomes a problem. Most furries are so grossed out by the se*ual or eccentric side of the fandom from what I gather, and they wish it didn’t exist because they are a terrible representation for what they truly are. Luckily I’ve only ever met chill furries though, unfortunately the weird ones out there are just incredibly LOUD…

To paraphrase Meg from Disney's Hercules, "Oh how cute...a bunch of rodents looking for a theme park."

How about normalising keeping things behind closed doors, in the privacy of your own bedroom. Remember that?

All I can hear in my head is "Ewwww, Brother what's that BROTHA??"

If it “needs normalizing” it is not normal. It’s not considered normal for a reason, usually a very good reason.

Furry itself isn't a fetish. It is a hobby and an interest. To be a furry simply means to enjoy stuff such as art of anthropomorphic animals, among other, usually creative activities having to do with anthro animals. Where this reputation for it being a fetish comes in is two fold. Firstly, the community has made a point of being accepting and welcoming to all sexualities and gender identities. As a result of being welcoming and accepting to inherently sexual things, furries have inadvertently welcomed an oversexualization of the hobby. secondly, most non-furries only see the worst that the furries have to offer. As you said in your video, they only want attention, these are the ones that you see. you don't see furries like me (a devout catholic and a learned conservative) or my friends (which mostly include other Christians, conservatives, military members who hate the woke crap, etc.) who just want to live our lives as normal people with a slightly strange interest. most of us don't want attention, most of us don't want to make it a sexual thing. unfortunately, most people only see the shitty side of the community and assume that is all of us.

Yeah i really don’t care about furrys they are not important to me, some times the suits are cool and stuff but it only becomes weird when furrys make it weird and a fetish. I used to think they were cool and it was just like dress up bit with a cute creative persona but people take things like this to far….

Not only…shwexual, but most furries are just cosplayers. It’s self expression. I know I know I know I KNOW you guys are gonna say “oH YOuR so WRonG.” I am wrong, for some furries, they do..shwexulies…but almost all of the furries are just having fun in animal costumes and cosplays! It’s a fun trend and the masks they make are very pretty

I'm done with not being heard on this topic. I'm a furry and have been since I was like 12, I played like an animal with friends, I plan to have my own costume business but people refuse to research the history. It's started with anime room partied in the late 70's, then in 1980, in California they had confurence 0 the first ever furry convention. They're were letters after that complaining that some people were not just into it for the anthropomorphic characters. There were complaints of fetish gear, people acting like animals, "screwing Fido, " and more. Since day one we've had a bad reputation, a small group identified as "burned furs" in the 90's because of all the open s3x and degeneracy, did you know multiple registered offenders work at all ages furry conventions, you do now. I love this fandom for its creativity and hate it for its degeneracy. I've done enough research that I can actually speak on the subject, if you want I'll come on a voice call and explain and answer questions.

Furry here. There's infighting because it's already a group of outcasts and they don't want problematic furs making it harder for them to be accepted. I keep this stuff in the privacy of my own home because I know it's weird and that normies didn't consent to being exposed to it.

As a 15 year old girl you are one of the few sane people in this world. And people have gone wayyy to far!

We really need to stop normalizing everything.

Aright, I’m coming out and saying it. Yes, some parts of the furry fandom can be toxic and weird, but that’s not it as a whole. It is a very large fandom. The adults in it will do what adults do. The children will do what children do. It’s not up to anyone to say that it is wrong. Of course, unless they are committing actual crimes. But other than that, it’s just people who want to dress up and make friends. There are people inside those costumes, with real feelings, and their own lives. Furries have been attacked, harassed and even killed, just for having fun. Just let them enjoy their lives, it’s not bothering you :)

I do want to say that a lot of furries don’t treat bring furry as a fetish. I am Christian, do not do porn, and started drawing furry art because I like the style. While most furries that appear to mainstream media are weird and gross, if you look deeper, there are some who still have a functioning moral compass.

Not all furries are into it for sexual reasons. HOWEVER, a significant amount of them are.

I’m not a furry, nor do I think that being one should be normalized, but they’re still humans. I don’t think we should be hating on them, and bullying them for just being them. Yes, I do think it’s a lil weird, but I think people should be able to be themselves without being bullied :)

I’m a conservative teen and cosplayer.. this seems a bit blown out of proportion. It’s not this bad, it’s just a loud portion of the community. But also, yeah furries shouldn’t be normalized, It’s a fun hobby, but it’s weird for a reason. (let me add that they’re just wearing costumes for fun.)
