Finding the rate of change from a word problem - How do you solve word problems

👉 Learn how to find the rate of change from word problems. The rate of change is the rate at which the the y-value is changing with respect to the change in x-value. To determine the rate of change between two points, we just need to extract the coordinate points of the points. Then, the rate of change is the quotient of the difference between the y-value and the difference between the x-values. i.e. rate of change = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1).

You are awesome.. but a lot of these State Standards for Algebra 1 - with word problems will show a table.. direct examples would really help if you have 1 - if you could extend what you did here and include a table with the hours vs altitude in feet values - to make the changes and rate of change more visually clear
