Marshall
Age 50, from India.
Most neutral and beautiful review.
Most of the reviewers generally impose their own judgment as best one. Your review is out of the box.
Thank you for this.

Your a great reviewer!! You play different genres of music when you review speakers, not many of them do, so much appreciated man keep up the good work.

This is by far the best comparison video I’ve seen yet. First, the mic/recording is of very high quality. Second, the songs were a good mix of different styles. Third, he actually played the same parts of each song on both speakers. I can’t tell you how many ones I listened to they just jump to the other speaker at a different point in the song so it’s hard to truly determine how each speaker is handling each nuance in a song.

And I agree with his analysis. I can definitely see this being a generational thing. I’m 47 and will be listening mostly to rock, jazz, r&b, instrumental, and some pop. These two are my decided choices and was struggling to make a decision. I was leaning towards the Marshall, but at my work we have an extensive merchandise catalog to shop with earned points and the Bose went on a crazy good sale to where I had enough points. The Emberton was quite a bit more…881 vs 605. So I’ve ordered the Bose. In my YouTube listening journey I found the Bose does everything well where some songs do fall very flat with the Emberton.

was listening to soundlink flex, emberton 2 and flip 6. I do agree emberton at certain songs do give a more immersive feeling with songs of more instruments, but my ears just feels fatigued because of the treble i think? Soundlink flex gives a more natural sound and much better clarity and oh with a better bass. I went with the soundlink flex, hope i made the right purchase!

"Lower volume sounds better on Marshal". That's exactly what I needed to know for my usage. Awesome.

There you go, I watched several videos from speaker testers, and you are the first to point out that the choice depends on the style of music you listen to.

very good analysis i wouldnt discard adding the statistics on a 2nd video based on age and music genre with some popular examples

Beautiful review, great sound recordings when listening via headphones, and thank you so much for auditioning some decent music ! Hard to pick between them, both are great units for their price and portability, so it comes down to taste and the individual. I do like the classic look of the Marshall, on the other hand the smooth edges of the Bose makes it somewhat more robust/portable… I’d be very happy with either. I have the Bose Soundlink mini 1, which is superbly sounding/portable for my needs, and I also have the B&O Beolit 20 which gets a continuous 2 hour workout at 100% volume every single week with my dance group.

I appreciate that you take into consideration that different genres will sound differently on the two speakers.

Scott, great job as always. I always appreciate the extra production efforts you take, to provide a solid comparison and review.

Gen Xer here - Great comparison! Tough choice, I have historically preferred boosted highs and lows (the famous "smile" EQ) but I'm training my ear to appreciate more mids. Based on your samples, I think the Bose is just too scooped in the mids. Even though the Marshall lacked some crispness in the highs slightly, I preferred the more flat tone.

Absolutely honest review and I got my answer about the difference. I bought a Emberton 2 since I am not young and like acoustics.

Thanks so much for demoing some acoustic music and natural vocals in addition to more modern styles, and for doing a high quality recording! Most reviewers just play some crappy house music and record with their smartphone mic, so you don't get any idea of how the speakers actually perform. I'm still surprised how similar those two are. Both sounded pretty good, better than many, but not mindblowing either. I slightly preferred the Marshall for its richer mids, but the treble was a bit better on the Bose, giving the vocals some more air. I'd consider both of them, and I'd also be interested in how they compare to the EarFun Uboom L and the B&O Beosound A1. I had its predecessor, the Beoplay A1, and I was very impressed by its sound. But I gave it away, and now I'm looking for a speaker again.

Scott, thank you for the great review! It gave me all the details I needed to decide between these two. Definitely Marshall for me! I listen mostly to Jazz with some Classical, and I am 60 :)

Marshall has a warmer more analogue sound. The Bose has a crisper and clearer sound more digital sound.
