And her thoughts were skipping miles again and when they stilled, they finally stilled at the man sitting across her; a man she held deep feelings for.
And her thoughts were skipping through miles again; from a woman adorning her hair with jewels and flowers to a party to a memory where she was staring at herself in a mirror to a classroom full of solemn students to a young man crouching to pick up her things to that same man leaving flowers on her desk to her checking assignments over tea with that very man only to halt abruptly. And when her thoughts finally halt they halt at the very man sitting across her at the moment.

The man had gotten drenched in the brief autumn rain. “You’re trembling, the rain would’ve stopped if you had waited a couple more minutes” she passed him paper towels.
-“And keep my date waiting? Wouldn’t be very gentle manly of me, would it? That too, on our first date” he accepted them gladly and wiped himself as best as he could, his lips curving softly.
She found herself at a short of words so she just did not respond to that and quietly watched him. His pair of lilac eyes peeking out from under his side bangs which were still wet and had been clinging to the side of his face.
“You braided your hair today too, Alex”
-“I remembered you telling me you liked them …uh” before he averted his gaze. She had just addressed him by his first name.
“Mn. Just Claudia” she leaned over for a better look and he tilted his head downward; his dark shoulder length hair was in its usual artfully messy half ponytail with an additional complicated looking braid starting from between the parting of his side bangs and following all the way into his ponytail.
She sat back down “I really do like them but they look like they are missing something”
He looked flustered-“Oh, I usually add beads too but it was raining today so”
“I’ll be looking forward to our next date then” she allowed herself to give him a small smile.
In return the man just stared until he seemed to realize something and cleared his throat before looking a little too intensely at the menu.
They sipped their drinks in mild chatter; hers cold coffee and his warm tea. They were seated into the back of a cozy coffee shop. The shop was almost deserted A gush of cold wind; the shop door had opened to let a customer out and with it the pieces of hair adorning Alex’s face billowing in them like little black flags. The light touched something to rebound and oh…he had his silver stud in one ear.
“I also realized your missing flowers today, is that because of the rain too?” Alex usually had some always tucked around his pockets of his tucked in shirts or little ones at the side of his ear.
He nodded. She had not planned on ogling at him for most of the date but she couldn’t help it. Who could? When he was so pretty?
She really thought there could possibly be no better way for her to spend her time other than study his beauty; when she had had to hold herself back the whole of last year.

At the thought of last year, of every restraint that had been put up on Alex and how he never even complained, a new wave of longing and fondness found their way into her chest and suddenly she was short of breath, her heart beating a little too fast. She had to clutch the side of the table for support and Alex noticing was soon at her side, kneeling.

Golden eyes found lilac ones and she found herself falling into them, her heart beat only quickening and she held her breath in. It was his hand on her shoulder that broke her out of her trance. Merely there and more like a ghost touch but the closeness and the warmth were enough to subdue her otherwise frantic heart.

-“Are you okay? You looked a little winded” he was straining to avert his gaze but she held on. His hand was about to retreat but she found herself leaning in and it lingered.
Claudia swallowed before speaking: “I am, and it’s because of you”
If it were any other person they would’ve missed it but Claudia caught the way his full lips parted for the shortest span of time before they closed again, his lilac pupils turned into a darker shade, almost blue.
His hair looked soft up close and before she could gather her self-control, her fingers found their way onto his hair; his hair truly being as soft as the visual promised. He watched quietly and scooted a little closer. Encouraged by this, she let her fingers wander. She played with the little loose pieces of hair from his messy ponytail before renewing her light touch against his high cheekbones.

Her voice was hoarse when she spoke next: “You’ve done so well, Alexander. I’m not sure I deserve you after everything I’ve put you through”

Alexander placed his hand on top of hers and her skin tingled from where they touched. He tiled his face a little towards her palm blinking slowly, his thin arched brows relaxed as if to reassure her and she felt the warmth reach her toes and she knew that had absolutely nothing to do with the weather.
-“Allow me to make some compliments too sometimes. I can’t always be on the receiving end. Not when I am completely infatuated with you and your beautiful dragon eyes.”
She blinked in confusion: “Dragon eyes? Because they are golden?”
In response he ‘Mned’ mimicking her fondly before adding- “They look like they could incinerate anyone who dared to cross your territory”
She let a soft laugh escape her and he stilled instantly.

Up close he was even more beautiful. She found herself wondering what a man like that had seen in someone as plain as her but pushed away the thought immediately as they had already waited too long and she could find time to feel insecure later. The slant of his nose was almost too perfect and his lips oh… his lips looked a little too inviting.

She could let go of her restraint…it couldn’t possibly hurt and even if loving this man hurt she’d learn to embrace the pain; anything for this man who had waited a whole year for her even without her ever giving him even a single word of commitment. She looked into his eyes and he’d been watching her quietly.

She lowered her head and warm lips soon enveloped her own and she felt warmth like never before. He smelled of the woods in rainy season and warm tea. She knew she could never go without his scent ever again now that she had finally had a proper expose. Long, warm fingers found their way into her hair and she felt herself lean back into his hands.

The little voice in her head concluded that she deserved this little happiness that the heavens chucked towards her and she should appreciate it before it’s gone like everything else in her life. She would let this man do anything to her and she would take it willingly.
