I'm doing something like what you did your car, but the Android tablet is going into an A Class RV, backup camera, Android tablet, tire air pressure minder. I like the idea of using some plastic to hold it all.

Unique idea - I hadn't thought of putting my stereo in the glove box! My car doesn't have an amp other than inside the stock stereo and I know nothing about installing one, so I thought I would just need to use an external solution anyway, but now I have this to consider! Thanks!

What I loved about DIY thing is that when it breaks you know how to fix it. And the fulfilment it gives when youre done doing it.

Awesome! Just got a cheap-ish car with an ancient stereo (not even an aux jack, just the iPod 30-pin) and really just want a simple dock for my phone in place of that old CD/radio unit. Thank you so much for showing that this is possible, and doesn't cost that much. I think I'll dig around for some empty space to put the actual radio besides the glove box, I might end up wanting space in there.

Great job. I did a similar install but I bypassed the stereo completely. Infact I removed the stereo all together. If you Want to see what I did on my install let me know.

My car has an MP3 player (no CD), and I bought a floor mounted holder for a tablet, which I can use via Bluetooth if I want. But that cost me $25.00 for the tablet holder and I just had to loosen a seat bold, slide the holder under the sear mount and tighten the bolt up. So I still have the car undamaged and have a tablet, but I can take the tablet out anytime I want by loosening 1 bolt. Plus...I can fit a 10 inch tablet in the holder.

What the hell is going on in that interior with all sorts of random colors

Nice cheap & quick build, I'd prefer using an speaker amp which is connected to the stock speakers and hooking it up to the tablet using an RCA to 3.5mm aux adapter for the long run though

I'm really impressed with the size of that glove box.

Use a car launcher app it will look more sharp and easy to use ☺️👍

The radio inside the glovebox is an awesome idea!

Bro, put your cam on manual focus so you can focus it on the dash, and not the reflection. I was considering doing a similar project, but oped for a full android hear unit instead because all the integrations I am considering like back up cam, aux inputs, etc are already baked in and work seamlessly instead of having to use all kinds of adapters and hacked software. Great that we have these options now, and not too expensive either. A decent android head unit is less than $150 USD.

“I’m gonna put the radio in the glove box, then we can spray paint part of the interior” Great Video!

That’s nice! Your video Is a good one I have been wanting to do the same thing in my 2011 Escalade but I would like to use an Apple iPad I didn’t know how to connect iPad to radio the way you did it is a more simple way thanks for this video

It's a great idea but you could have done it so much cleaner, and without having the deck put into the glove box. For example you made a custom piece to hold the tablet, you could have made a modified cover that would have a swivel hindge that would move the tablet up and down, but when set in a resting position, it'd be flush with the deck. Or various other ways. Sure good tech, and sound are important to a vehicle overall feel. But having an asthetic look that blends well with a great looking car is just as important.

I like the idea
But you can install it with small audio amplifier because you can't reach the glove box while you driving

Nice job man. Dont get me wrong though, a friendly recommendation. That red could be blue to match the dash colour 😌

Thanks for the informative tutorial.
I have a couple of questions.
From what I understand, the tablet stays powered on when the car is turned off. Would that not get the tablet's battery drained and turn the tablet off?
And In case if I plug the tablet charger to a line that stays powered on even after the car is off, would it not drain the car's battery?
