This was a fun one. For the final day of the Kawasaki weekend I took out the ZX-10R Special Edition and the ZZR1400 (or ZX14 depending on your market). Similar specs yet very different in execution, feel, and character, and both spectacular in their own way.

Well despite all the negativity I enjoyed your review Dan, haters will always hate! I'm cracking on nearly 50 and set my heart on a 10r...till I sat on one! Very cramped and track orientated. The ZZR won me over with its roomy position and blistering performance! Each to their own I guess.

One thing I think we can all agree on, KAWASAKI IS

Even though both are quintessential sport bikes, one is designed for speed + handling, whilst the other is designed for touring at high speeds for long distances.
So it's a direct supersport vs sport touring contest. However in the end both are Ninjas and are amazing sport bikes for the purpose they are designed.
Nice comparo buddy👍

As a ZZR owner, I was excited to get the ZX10R for a few hours, whilst mine was in for service.
I was instantly struck by the riding position, which I liked a lot. But once out of the city and on the twists, it was pin sharp handling and very very chuckable. I was however, left wanting when it came to exiting corners and hitting straighter sections. The Big Zed would have lost out in the approaches and the corners, but would steam past the 10r on the way out. I'm sticking with my ZZR, but have a place in my heart for the ZX10R for sure. Next to try is definitely the H2.... not the SX and certainly not the ZH2. Go large, or go home!!
Great video, really enjoyed it fella

Flat out; you should have more subscribers. Well done review. Even though I've studied these bikes to death, I found your delivery very engaging and kept me watching.

I'm 52 and I love my 2018 ZX-10R SE... it is what it is, and it is glorious!

First time I have seen this article... have a '14R, and a 2014 (older generation) Zx10r - there is a reason I have both! given the choice between 1, I would have to go with the ZX14r only. It is more versatile, better in the city despite being a bigger bike and is sooo smooth. However, for turns and burns the '10r is a lighter machine no doubt. The next generation SE is even more so. However the feel between the older ZX10r and the generation 5 zx10r is very similar; the next gen just does everything a bit better. I am privelaged to have one of each... your article on each is spot-on.

Good review. I've ridden over 50 bikes including these on the track if you haven't ridden both bikes then you don't know what you are talking about lmao! Both bikes are amazing and have different purposes and they both fulfill them perfectly.

I have the 2018 zx10r se and it is freaking amazing. Ive had a 19 s1000rr, 13 gsxr 1000 and 07 R1. The 2018 ZX10R SE just is in a class of its own. Its very hard to express how awesome it is with words and you have to ride one to believe all the hype. Everything you said is true. Its a missile. Dont forget it has a titaniun exhaust and it doesnt get hot. Im in florida and it never gets over 190 sitting at the redlight in blazing sun. Its the best bike ive ever rode and the s1000rr would be my second choice.

I have owned a tuned 2013 zx10r and now have a 2013 zzr1400, the zzr is faster top end and pulls harder from lower down

6'3 280...ZX14R is a comfortable bike. I was all for getting a GXR1000...until I sat on one.
Nope!! Felt like if I hit the front brakes too hard I was going to flip over the top.
Previous bike was a Katana 600 with 1200 miles on it when I bought it for only $2300. I fell in love with the comfort and room, so I had to get something of similar comfort.
But I tell ya, coming from a 600 to 2020 ZX14R....😲😲...lol.

The ZX-10R does not beat a ZX-14R in a drag race or for top speed. I don’t know where you got that idea. That may just be your perception with the high rpm biased powerband of the ZX-10R. That said, the 10 makes less power in the US and the 14 is top speed limited to 187. Maybe that’s the difference.

I'd take the 14 over the 10 anyday for pure comfort and ease. I sat on a zx10 felt like my ass sat higher than the handlebars.

Owned cruisers, Hayabusas, and now the 14r. The 14 is day to day. The H2 is planet to planet.

My only way to at least watch my dream bikes, can't afford one. In 1986 I bought a brand new red ninja 1000R for 4, 400 bucks, at Boston bike show, when I went to pick it up, the dealer tells me 5, 600 bucks, figured right, but I had the card with that price so he grudgingly have in. I loved that bike, the design and heritage is in these bikes. It was a wrist rocket for it'd time.

There's no Replacement....For Cubic Displacement!!!
The 6 -Eyed Monster wins hands down on the open road...Much more Satisfaction in normal road riding, which 99% of riders experience daily...Now as for Track Days, I'd love the chance! But with the right Rider onboard, I'd give the ZZR a close chance, depending on the Track...
