Block Annoying New Overlay at End of YouTube Videos

You've probably noticed these new overlays on top of YouTube videos. YouTube assumes content creators have non-interesting things like credits or subscribe clips at the end of their videos. Others though, (like this one), don't. Use of these things BLOCK the video that you're trying to watch and as of June 2017, there isn't a way to disable them using YouTube settings. :(

As best I can tell, YouTube is using HTML elements to overlay these blocks on top of the video, which can be blocked by AdBlock Plus. This video demonstrates how to do this so that you can watch the video that you came to YouTube to watch.

Such a dumb decision by YouTube. I didn't use Adblock on YouTube because I think creators deserve to get paid, but I've been forced to enable it or I will miss the final scenes of videos.

I don't understand what kind of thought process the YouTube executives must've had. Not only is it disruptive, but _they didn't give the option to turn them off?_ Why? What kind of benefit does that have? At least with annotation links, you could, you know, turn them off! I know YouTube is known for making terrible decisions involving their layout, but it's just getting absurd at this point.

Its 2022 and this nonsense is still happening. It literally obstructed video so much that I couldn't read the text on the video towards the last 20-30 seconds. Absolutely stupid of Youtube to maintain this god awful feature.

Some times the endings are the best part of the video but then I see video link boxes blocking the video. Obviously video links should show only after the video has completely ended...

Thanks for the help, it took me a while to even find the proper term for this bullshit on Google. What kind of idiot went "hmm, lets add massive annotations at the end of every video that will block 80% of the screen" and thought it would be a good idea? The ones you show in this video are nothing compared to everything I've seen. They literally block almost the entire screen during the last 15-20 seconds. I'm glad there's a solution for it.

Great video, thanks!! Amazing that it's been years and YT doesn't allow these intrusive overlays to be closed at the end of a video. Their designers must be asleep at the wheel

Thank you for this. This feature is by far the most annoying thing that YT has come up with recently. I can see it being useful for vloggers, but most of what I watch on YT are music videos and web series, so the last 20-30 seconds are important and it was so irritating to have most of the screen blocked with no way to x out of the overlays.

It’s clear that most of their users are annoyed by this function. They need to take our feedback more seriously
