JD Vance is at it again: This time Donald Trump running mate’s egg-rant has backfired. Vance went to a supermarket in Pennsylvania where he talked about steep price of eggs. Accompanied by his son, Vance put blame on Kamala over ‘rise in rates of eggs’. Vance said that a dozen of eggs is at $4. But price tag of eggs behind him was actually $2.99. The price tag was spotted by internet users and they quickly called out Vance.

Eggs are about $3.35 a dozen here where I live so Vance isn't wrong about the price. BUT the reason eggs went up wasn't Kamala, it was a flu that killed a TON of chickens a few months ago. That was all over the news and we are still hurting from it.

Also eggs weren't around 1.50 when they took office. They were more around what they are now. They went up during the pandemic due to demand and also a case of bird flu.

Bird flu caused a massive reduction in supply, this prices increased.
Stop blaming the executive office who does not set monetary policy anyway.

4 Dollars a dozen in AZ and orange juice is 8.23 gallon and yes when I make breakfast I use a dozen for 5 or 6 ppl. Is this video supposed to make us think prices haven't skyrocketed? 🥴

Vance said they're "about $4." The shelves hold eggs that range from $3-$5 a dozen. Seems spot on.

I just checked egg prices…they are about $4 a dozen on average. The ones I buy actually cost more so what are you guys yapping about?

Price of food is complicated. Weather, grain shortages, gas prices, labor, often now lack of labor, bird flu, keeping the birds cool enough during heat waves is expensive. One out break of bird flu and all the birds have to be a Slaughtered and there was some big outbreaks this last year. Then, how chickens are being kept is beginning to change (too slowly) so they have more space. Local farmers markets have people selling their fresh eggs for $4-$6 or higher in bigger cities.

14 eggs every single morning? Check your PR guy. Check the prices behind you.

2.99+tax sounds "around" 4 bucks to me. On top on that, lets not ignore the other egg prices over 4 bucks...where's the lie?

His kids eat 14 eggs every morning... Those kids eat 7 eggs each and then go to school. Dude, what?!

Play the whole video dude.

Debunk time!

I just watched the video. He says a dozen eggs will cost you "around" $4. The reason he's holding 2 dozen? He asks his kids if they want eggs, when he starts to talk you can literally hear him say "whoa" and he grabs the fragile 2 dozen eggs out of his kids hands. He can see him react quickly as to make sure they aren't dropped. You'd do the same if your 7 year old grabbed a package of eggs. He never said "This dozen will cost $4" he just said a dozen eggs. The video says eggs are "closer" to $3, which is probably the national average, but again he said you'll pay "around $4." which there are actually some eggs in stores that are close to $4.

Is this a joke? Egg’s going from .99-1.50 a dozen to 2.99 a dozen, right or wrong, is in no way, shape or form a win for the American people.

Avian influenza, commonly called bird flu, has disrupted the nation's egg distribution for the second time in two years.
Wholesale egg prices have more than doubled in the past four months, and retail prices have followed.
Prices could quickly tumble, though, as recent inspections suggest commercial egg producers may have made progress in containing the recent outbreak.

Fact checking the fact checkers: all you have to do is look at the video just before the circled amount, it shows $4.99 behind him to our right before he shifts around. Also, on a ‘viral’ photo it clearly shows $4.99 on the lower 2 of 3 shelves. Yes the ‘fact checkers’ are correct that two dozen at $2 each is $4 (good job) but nowhere in the video do I see $2. The lowest I see is 2.99 per dozen which still doesn’t make $4 for two dozen. Good job (sarcasm), fact checkers. Also, a very simple Google search or store run will easily validate his claim

eggs in Australia are a minimum of $6 a dozen (around $4 USD) and $11.00 a dozen (around $7.50 USD) Seriously America complains while the rest of the world pays much much more

Also he was holding 2 dozen eggs not one dozen. He doesn’t seem to understand the difference?

This is a lie. Why did you blur out the other prices and focus in on one? I know why, because the eggs behind him are $3.99. The $2.99 are the small eggs, most people buy the large which is $4. You are just lying.

Umm, yeah. I actually read price tags when I shop, and don't just grab the first fancy box I see. And grocery chains are making RECORD profits thanks to monopolization.
