In this video, we will be converting a 40,000-gallon chlorine pool into a saltwater pool. We completed this installation with the best salt chlorine generator on the market, the Pentair Intellichlor. The intellichlor is powered by a power box that runs whenever the pump runs.

This video you will see the entire process of converting a chlorine pool to saltwater. Some of the things that we will go over will be:

-What the system looked like before
-What the system looks like now
-Replumbing of the system
-Wiring of the power box
-Inserting salt into the pool
-The interface of the intellichlor
-And More!

Can you just take the inline chlorinator out and put the salt cell there?

Is that an inline chlorinator? Why wasn't it removed?

Unfortunately even with regular maintenance the salt generating cells only last a few years. And most pool service techs and homeowners don’t diligently service them which further shortens the service life. After a few $1, 000 charges to replace the cells many homeowners revert back to adding chlorine directly. Everybody loves their salt systems initially but for most the honeymoon is short. Good idea in the short term but the equipment doesn’t last. Pool guys like the one in this video love to sell them because it’s a quick profit, years of cell cleaning fees and pretty soon a hefty repair bill
