Hey I'm just starting out as a first year apprentice (second career). I love the work, but its easy to get frustrated sometimes. Your videos and positive attitude are an inspiration for me. Thanks.

You forgot the best method: Send the apprentice to find the wire stretcher in drivers side bin of the truck, then yell at him that it’s the only orange tool in that bin when he says he couldn’t find it

Homeowner here. I always had doubts about the clippy thing (Wago) but I'll give it a go the next time I am in a tight spot.
Thanks for the video.

Up north we need to leave 6 inch of wire loop outside the box, before the stapple. So we can just pull on it if drywaller mess up a lil bit.

Just found your channel, and finished the pre-employement electrician program here, but getting into it late in life. Excited though!

Good advice, I like the Wagos myself but done it the way you demonstrate many times.

I like Buchanan they give a solid low resistance crimp

If the short wire is old, which is likely, I would not recommend the wire nut method, the wire could snap when twisting or at least be unknowingly overly stressed. The Wago lever nut is the best option imo.

Great video, thank you.
I tend to use Wago connectors and really love them.

Man this reminds me of when I lived out in the Midwest and had to work on remodels of old farm houses that still had knob and tube and cloth wiring. The wires literally had been cut so many times in some of those boxes that there literally was nothing left

I've used the old style Marr connectors (the ones where the wires were held in place by a setscrew and then the cap threaded on. Then the Marrettes came out and people were questioning the viability of those. I just started using the Wago in the last few months and I like them but they are a bit pricy. We'll see how they hold up and if they catch on.

I use your method.
Have you ever used those Wagos®?

Many years ago, I got sent to finish a build out extension on a home. The owner did the initial wiring so I had to work with what I had. The owner cut the cable very short, not even long enough to reach out of the box. OK that was a problem. But the big problem was he used old UF cable that he found somewhere. One of the worst jobs ever, and the reason I got out of residential and moved on to better things.

Wago® offers a compact version of these connectors.

I like the solutions and the Wago is a last resort for me. I just don't trust them in the long run.
