Paying over $600+ for a card, and not able to bring at least one person as guest, just crazy. Amex credits drive me crazy. I hate the way they do their coupon credits. They are hoping you forge to use them, there’s no other explanation. Why do you have to select an airline to use say, credits. Their ecosystem is too controlling. If they raise the fee on the gold, done.

I was debating between getting a platinum or a venture X this past weekend as I qualified for the sign up bonuses for both, and boy I’m sure glad I went the venture X route. It’s incredibly hard to justify that annual fee when the card gets nerfed like that

Gouging the authorized user fee was enough for me. Not sure if I'll keep my platinum card but I will certainly cancel the AU's for my family. I only got my kids and spouse cards so we can use the lounge before flights. We only take around two vacations a year so it's not like we're a big contributor to overcrowding. AMEX really pissed me off with that. I've been a customer since 1993 and I am thoroughly fed up with them.

Honestly not being able to bring guests into the lounges is insane to me. I get they were busy, but still, make it so the guest needs to be an immediate family member, like your husband or wife, or your parents or something.

After the revamp, I decided to keep the Business Gold Card over the personal Gold Card as the spend categories and credits make more sense. I was going to get a personal Platinum just before the holidays (middle to end of next month) to hit the spend requirement with holiday shopping, but it looks like I’m gonna have to go for the personal Gold first instead.😭 the Platinum will have to wait until next year!

Do you know if AMEX Business Gold for example can be opened under different EIN corporations and therefore receive unique welcome bonuses, under the new terms? Or does AMEX attribute the welcome bonus to the SSN number for the one time lifetime per business card product?

Here is the reality .. because of the 2020-2021 crazy new accounts opening they’re realized they have this card to way to many people and it lost its exclusivity .. they are not interested in people using this card for CC hacking and stuff .. they just want huge spenders so it can bring back. It’s exclusivity which honestly was being lost with everyone having one .. these changes will force ALOT of people to cancel

When the annual fee jumped from $595 to $695 a year for the Platinum card I was out. With the pandemic, I really didn't travel anymore and that fee made no sense for me. I downgraded to the gold card and have been happy ever since.

The one thing I feel like was talked about a lot was the fee changes in this video but isn’t that beneficial to us? Wasn’t the point so the centurion lounges become less crowded? if every one in the fam could have a platinum card and get in for free isn’t that why they have the problem they do with the lounges?

Loved the platinum as a single guy, but if I could do it again I'd go venture x. Will probably just call to downgrade to gold for restaurants and groceries.
