Why didn't you mention that as of July 1, 2022 you are making a DIY install of a minisplit ineligible for a rebate? This is BS. The timing of this change coming just when the 2 hardware big box stores began selling the DIY versions stinks of collusion with the HVAC overcharger mafia. I installed 2 myself here in BC, got the rebate and saved $9K over what HVAC quoted. They work great and have seen elec. consumption for heating (had baseboards) go way down.

Why don't you discuss the working temp range for the outdoor unit? Every brand I have looked into is good to -20c (-4F). So pretty much everywhere outside of the lower mainland will need an alternative heat source for the winter months...

What about apartment size and condensation removal?

So it being winter our electric bill went from 400, to 540 in November and $608 for the month of December. My suspicion is the mini splits not being set correctly.

Any advice?

Heat rises so why would you put a heat pump outlet high wouldn't it be more effective down low to allow the heat to rise?

For collo.g rhey work good. For heating, not so much.

Current City building codes prevent them from being feasible for most apartment dwellers (about 50% of the BC population depending on who you ask)

All in all, do not get those. If you are seeking for so called air conditioning to switch from gas to heat pump, don’t do that! You will get regret immediately. If you don’t have heat pump to blow cold air in BC, you suffer a month. If you switch, you suffer four month with never heated up winter.

What is that big metal box thing outside. My fear is a potential for noise pollution being foisted upon my neighbors.

Terrible background music. Why do that?

This will probably make your interior more dusty since it's drawing air from outside. The filters don't catch everything.

Except when you got multiple zones, one head can’t be on cool and the other on heat. You forgot this interesting feature!
