You have provided a great explanation of the Split units. I have one in my garage and like it. We have a severe temperature issue with both sides of the house and have been looking to installing a Multi Zone to fix the issue as we have been told that it'll cost about the same to re-duct the house.

First year running 7 head units/2 36k BTU LG units in my 2000sf house. Winter utility cost was around $300 a month for electricity vs what would have been $1, 000 a month running the gas hot water radiant. Mini split wins by a landslide and I get AC in the summer without window units.

I enjoyed your video, you're a very good speaker! I'm preparing to install mini splits at my daughter's house. I'm an advanced DIYer and my neighbor is a contractor who installs Daikin systems so I will have good advice and get the equipment at his cost. This is an older double-wide manufactured home with a forced air electric furnace and the heating bills are outrageous. We found that there were HUGE air leaks from the terrible ductwork, basically been heating the crawlspace for years. The house has a large main area and 3 bedrooms and a large master bath. He's giving me a super deal ($1k) on a 36k 4-head Daikin (unused but I had to repair a damaged fitting) but I just can't see a way to do it all with 4 heads so I'll be adding a single system as well for the master bedroom. I can't see the logic of not having a head for each bedroom because if you keep the door closed you have no control of the room temperature.

I'm about to start a new build and I'm considering mini splits. Many say no to putting one in each bedroom and a second reason not to is the constant cleaning requirement and finally you need more equipment to truly clean the air.

THE JAPANESE invented these mini splits. I will not buy Seville, Midea etc.... that are made in China. nothi8ng but problems with 2 mechanical contractors I have worked for in the past. Home owners and building managers don't like these systems going down after having them for the last 5 years. Warranty covers the contractor and se4rvice tech. but it does not cover the homeowner. Get Fujitsu, Daiken, and Mitsubishi they work the best. I have done preventive maintainance on these systems and some average between 14 to 20 years run time. Some of the customers just let them run because the forgot they were turned on. there electric bill is low that they don't Reliable,

I installed 3 mini splits in my home and helped my son install one. The only problem is now I have no more breaker space in my panel. My brother in law paid $5000 for a 3 in one system one outside unit runs 3 inside units. The problem is when the outside unit failed he had no A/C in his hole house. it took over a week in 95 degree weather for it be fixed. But they only used one breaker. Mine are separate and cost $522 each one failed after 4 years they wanted more to replace the compressor than a new unit. So I went on Ebay and bought a new unit. I still have one room to get a new unit for but I will have to add a submain. I have zonal heat in all my rooms that's were my breaker space went. I don't have to heat or cool unused rooms. But grandma can set her room to the temp she wants when she visits.

I specialize in Mitsubishi in the Chicago land area, do a lot of fully ductless heat pumps replacing gas furnaces and boilers

They are definitely a lot more expensive that just 1 ducted system

Recently complete a 9 head system in Chicago replacing boiler

About $50k

But it works amazingly

I have a few in my channel

Nice video !

Appreciated the informative video. I have a sunroom with vinyl windows. Does a mini split ac/heating unit work with vinyl windows or just glass? If not, do you have any suggestions as to how to cool down a room with vinyl windows?
Thank you.

We’re thinking of central air, currently have window units and one in the wall (eww) and the finished attic is scorching in the summer. The only problem is our house is pretty small and not sure if ductwork will fit. Maybe mini split is an option I’ll look into it. Thank you.

These things are really tough to buy, besides the price, many will void the warranty if you DIY. What about tech support? What about the availability of parts when the thing breaks? Is there a delivery charge? How long is the warranty? Can you return it for free if something is wrong? Too many variables. Use a spread sheet to decide.

How would you rate a ‘cooper Hunter or ‘innovoair’ if you plan to sell house with next 1-2 years for sure. I am a senior so I would really appreciate your opinion. Thanks!

Our HVAC company discouraged us from replacing our HVAC system in 2027 with a multiple head mini-split system. He stated HVACs do a better job of removing humidity than mini-split systems. We live in SW Florida where it can be humid from April to Nov. What say you?

How well will it work for a unit to heat/cool just an area like a 20x20 enclosed patio?

In your experience, which unit last the longest and is the best quality overall? I'm in North Alabama, where our winters are pretty mild. This mini split will be mainly used to cool. We have really hot summers with lots of humidity. It's for an insulted pole barn that I built. I'm considering Daiken, Pioneer, and maybe a Senville from Amazon but am open to any! I'd like to purchase once, and hopefully, it'll last 10 years (fingers crossed). I'm not wanting to live in this space, just want to make it comfortable in the summer.
