Do you think a 2 ton mini split unit will be sufficient enough for a 700 square foot room if the condenser is located 50 to 60 ft away from the evaporator?

Ducted is the way to go, however most HVAC companies doing mini split wall units are incapable of designing, fabricating, sealing, testing sheet metal ducting for these units. we prefer to duct mini splits, but sizing and installing the ducting properly is critical for the pictured slim low static (ability for the fan to overcome the resistance created by the duct system and filter) pressure blower son to standard blowers. However, low static does not mean a short duct system if it is well designed. We have installed these blowers with ducting running 3 stores and many feet of duct. For example a 9000 btu 3/4 ton blower needs 300 cfm and might require a 8x14 inch duct to run 3 stores decreasing in size as air is supplied to each area. All 90's will need to be long radius or include turning vanes. With a traditional unit with a high static blower 300 cfm might require an 8x8 inch duct and be able to used standard fittings sold in any supply house. Generally ducted mini splits ducting should be sized to allow for the lowest speed on the blower to convey the amount of air needed to run the unit at it's lowest capacity. if one sizes the duct system for the highest static the unit can overcome it will not have sufficient air flow at the lowest speed air speed and capacity. In a nutshell the unit would only be able to run efficiently at the highest fan speed.

Mini split heat pumps can be installed using medium static blowers and high static blowers but both of these choices will require some form of back up heating in below freezing applications, where the picture blower will not.

Do you have a system tour video? I JUST got my CH ducted system delivered and I'm so intimidated by the duct work portion. I got a 1/2 ton system for 1500sf

Can the ducted mini split also work as a dehumidifier for areas like the bathroom?

I have central with ductwork underneath my house, and I love the idea of not having the air go through dirty ducts. It seems like it would be cleaner air without the ducts.
The ductwork just adds more damn headaches

Do you have any problems with condensation? Planning to install one for heat/cool but my attic isnt fully insulated which is concerning

Originally mini split are ductless. If you want duct then just get central air

No emergency drain pan . No emergency float switch . Hope the drain doesn't stop up. Homeowner has a good lawsuit .

Most mini split systems are ducted. That system is normally ductless but has an air handler. The difference is that you can add like 4 more heads onto that one, but the regular split is permanently fixed.

can you share more about this? I have an old school central unit and i want to install something more efficient like that.

Isn't a ducted "mini split system" just a small split system?

Well that defeats the main point of selling mini splits, the ability to control the temperature on each room makes them attractive unlike the old ducted where you are always cooling the whole house and the bedroom don't get that much air as the vents closer to the unit.

No disaster pan under the indoor unit? No insulation in the attic? Makes no sense why the duct is hung so high and the flexible supply runs have to drop so far back down, I like to lay them right on top of the insulation with the shortest path as possible. I've installed many of these over the years and they are always a pain the you know what. I despise them...

Nothing new, been around for a couple decades.

These things suck especially in tight spaces when you eventually have to replace them.
