Through fantastic world building and an atmosphere unmatched by most games on the market, The Final Station, and its follow up DLC The Only Traitor, crafts a captivating mystery that leaves players chomping at the bit to see the whole picture; however, the story's greatest strength is also its weakness as through the gameplay of the games, it's easy for players to miss a note in one of the levels or a conversation between characters that has information that is vital to the understanding of the overall story, leaving them confused by the game's end. So to help clear up this confusion, let's go through all the information in the game, and present it here so we can see the story of The Final Station in full.

Chapters:
00:00 - Intro
01:12 - Background of the World
24:51 - Start of Base Game
30:57 - Events of The Only Traitor DLC
36:04 - Rest of Base Game

Rip Guardian, you will be remembered fondly as the big ass robot who went out trying it all.

Come on, Edward totally deserved to be Reborn, he went cross-country while being attacked by weird goop zombies, awakened a giant robot only to watch it collapse and fail, and still made it back to his town on foot, while still sick from the gas, all so he could take care of his daughter.

By far, the most effective narrative tactic of this game was the contacts list you had on your train. All of the names going dark one by one as you progress through the game really sells that *everyone* is dying. It makes the loneliness of the final level all the more suffocating.

The soldier escorts weren't lucky enough to get away with the train. The claw marks stained with blood at the end of the carriage means that they were dragged away by something that were more horrifying than just human-shaped entities as they sacrifice themselves trying to hold back the horde before it could reach their last hope.

In the DLC, it's strongly suggested that Guardian was sabotaged by forces allied with the Invaders. The hero finds a missile with instructions to launch it in case "Guardian strays off course". Excerpt from the wiki. This would obviously be the most viable reason why the guardian failed. Or y'know, "them" as people talked about in the west, who might have just destroyed the guardian
P.S. After the devs finish their next game, book walker, the final station will be receiving a spinoff/sequel

Regarding Ristol and it's destruction... I don't know how right or wrong this is, but I always got the impression the giant Electrol Crystal was like a shield for the city, protecting it from both gas and the visitors alike. So when Adam gave it away, he took the shield away and that is why the city was untouched and was attacked inmediatly after Edward's departure

Always kind of wished they'd had some alternate ending where your character's hard work paid off in him being reborn.

Not perfect by any means, but this was a hard game to cover! Hope the things I missed or left out aren't too annoying, and you still enjoy! Thanks so much for watching!
Also, I said a video on Hyper Light Drifter would be coming out in December, but that's a little up in the air right now... The video will still be made, but may be pushed to January depending on what happens during December! Sorry about the wait!

I love a story where there isnt a complete-true villain that is evil. Everyone wants to make humanity better, but in their own way

An absolutely underrated gem, played it in 2016 and I ate up the whole game in a few days, thought about it like some days ago and was very surprised to see it cover by anyone 6 years later, amazing video!

This game made me feel like I was in a disaster. I knew there was something bigger going on, but I was to preoccupied with my own situation to come to a reasonable conclusion. This video helped me realize the full picture. Thank you.

Not gonna lie the only detail from the game left unanswered to me now is the drug/wine that one library/bar was serving to people as they relaxed around and read books

Maybe something to make their last moments peaceful? or just a crazy chill pass time?

The "it is too early to interfere" part got me thinking . . . what if the Visitors knew of the Guardian? Or that Adam and the Blacksmith were only playing along while still trying to fight back against the Visitors and the Reborn?
Like, the Visitors and Reborn seem pretty focus on getting Adam and the Blacksmith to their side. So what if letting Edward through to complete his deliver, to make it so the Guardian could launch. . . was simple because the Visitors knew they would defeat the giant robot and in doing so would make Adam and the Blacksmith submit since there was no hope then?
Also awesome video by the way, I've seen some of your other story summaries and while they are usually somber, you do a great job at explaining the lore and story of the game.

I wish they continued on this story in the near future, like 20 or 50 years or so, where you play as the conductor's daughter as a hyper-evolved human resisting this new world order that forced her father to be removed from her life.
