I think what a lot of people forget about something like diving and skydiving would be similar is that there’s a whole ritual process that you really need to get your head and body into so your dive actually starts literally the day before when you start planning and visualizing and getting your stuff together so that you are 100% on point when you are at the dive site. And take your time… That is a really big issue. People rush themselves when there is literally no rush. And also screw peer pressure. I would always look at people straight up in the eye each individual on the boat to make sure that they were straight up and that they knew who their buddy was. Diving is awesome, but it is also something to be taken very seriously.

Definitely understand it being a struggle over the winter I completed my
Dry suit, Nitrox, Rescue Diver and O2 courses, this summer I will be completing my Side Mount and starting to utilize doubles. which definitely adds a lot mor options and opportunities to my plate. At the end of the day I’m hoping to utilize experienced friends and detailed dive, log books to guide me through the next few years.

I appreciate your videos and thank you

How to deal with task loading:
- practice one thing at a time until it becomes automatic
- only move on to more complexity when everything has become automatic and your head is free for something new
- that means no cameras, gopros, lights or any other silly toys until you're done
- that means no new certification until everything you've learned so far is perfect

Here's the thing with straps (mask and fins). Adjust their fit way before you get to the dive site. Mask should be snug and not super tight. Same with fins. Adjust them so they are snug and you can relatively pull on and off the strap.
Once you've got them done, don't mess with them again. People, especially beginners, have too much of a tendency to pull the straps (especially fins) too tight. And then when they take them off they loosen them way too much. Get your adjustments/settings done first and then don't mess with them.
The other gear is again adjust it to where it is snug and you can get it on and off without too much effort.
Makes life a lot easier. I know, been diving for 40 years with 15 of it as an instructor.

Most tourists need to go on a shallow ' refresher ' dive ( if not several) before again being thrown into the deep end by scuba dive shops.

I like the idea of cutting down on tasks, but if I’m being completely honest I get a little stressed before the dive and going through my checklist of things to do and adjustments actually keeps me calm

Took me three years to get a static "hold"

Meaning 3 years of 4 dives a weekend... All to do what, hold perfectly still in trim in water.

I was once told the average certified diver has only 26 dives logged dives over a lifetime. Mind blown.

It's time in the water.
