I'm Colombian, and I've heard this history several times. For us, that time was one of the worst, there were terrorist attackd every day, and some ppl (you know who are) controlled the country, and they captured the Justice Palace, one of the most important state buildings in Bogotá. They could do everything, and football was an option for forgetting the reality. Colombia Football team was great in that time, and we beat Argentina 5-0. Colombia was one of the favorites to win the wc, but the country's situation influenced everything. We still remember Andres Escobar as a good man, and he showed the world how the dirty money can change a country's future.
